    AJ Styles returns

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,420 ✭✭✭ThePott

Loved this Smackdown on the whole.

Guessing (and hoping) that the AJ injury is a work, in which case it's a bit odd, even if I can see the reasoning.

The Dumpster match was excellent. Michin and Chelsea have actually put in a shift lately and the women's division needs feuds like this. The table spot was great and Chelsea has such good character work. The backstage reactions were funny, Ausin Theory with the cake had me in stitches.

Ladder match was strong, especially the closing minutes. Was hoping for DIY but it seemed obvious it was gonna be the Bloodline. Seems the tease is for Motor City Machin Guns (guessing after Fenix got his contract extended, they went stright to main roster). With all that going on, the tag team division can totally heat up again. I definitely want the tag belts out of these big faction storylines though, same with the Judgement Day holding them on Raw.

Chelsea can carry and sell any storyline, she is just ace

I like the SP but is it time for singles action for Dawkins and Montez

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,029 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

They're confident in Bad Blood when they're already advertising Raw with "After an unforgettable Bad Blood".

Think the ladder was a bit shorter or the belts were hung higher than planned.

If that AJ injury is legit then it was stupid of him to do that shoulder breaker, especially on that leg. But I would expect it's a work and he did that move intentionally to supposedly make it worse.

    Tiffany calling Bayley "Pam".

With the size of the dumpster, I was worried Chelsea might hit her head on the side with that power bomb.

How is it that champions that have to defend their titles on 3 brands are only hosting Bad Blood?

One of the Brazilian announce teams already spoiled the MMG announcement on air ! Wondering how they'll debut them, will we see a tag team tournament etc

Chelsea needs a mid card title, she's been awesome on air and social media

Montez needs to break away and chase the US title, I think he's ready for a mid card title run

    Do MCMGs own that name?

I really enjoyed that main event and show overall.

It was fresh with having some different people featured and even having the Tongans showcased, and win without shenanigans was good

I have to credit the WWE for doing such a great job with Nia Jax. She has gone from go away to I sitting forward to see what she does or hear what she is saying.

Will Rock will be on Smackdown tomorrow night I wonder?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,029 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Looks like debut next week of

    MCMG

Strange how quickly Jimmy got his match against Solo. Figured would be next week at the earliest or he would have to go through the Tongas at least. If they're the War Games match, they have until 30th November to build.

Not sure what way the Saudi matches will go. Would assume they'll give Raw 1 winner and Smackdown the other. Going by the fact Cody and Liv both have ongoing feuds, would assume Gunther and Nia would win due to shenanigans. Though that would be 2 heel winners. And since Cody is the only face out of the 4, seems he would win.

Interesting that Naomi got the win over Nia, given the Bad Blood press conference HHH criticism, just coincidence?

I expected Jimmy also not to take on Solo this soon, thought Tongas or Jacob first

I wonder would Jimmy and Roman go after the tag titles

WILL Jey drop the title back to Bron soon on Raw to be added to the Bloodline feud, as Bron's face turn is over after 1 week

Great to see MCMG's finally get their dues.

    This was a great Smackdown.

Firstly, I'm loving Jey's role in all this as being the conflicted man between both Bloodlines. Telling Solo that he left and he should do the same instead of hurting the family. Delighted they didn't have Jey make the save at the end like I'm sure people expected, give the story time. Roman putting on the beads and it costing him is a nice touch and Roman telling Jey he's proud of him, is great cause we've seen him say stuff like this to gaslight before but it might be true here. Think Jey getting involved might also get the Bloodline to get involved in his business on Raw which might bring him back to Jimmy and Roman, with a common enemy.

I've seen Lash Legend here and there, remember her debut and had written her off but man, she looked good here. Some big spots, serious potential. Elsewhere in the women's division. Candace getting a chance (and a win!) is always something I'm for, this might even lead to something.

MCMG are here! I like their entrance enough but god I'll miss their TNA theme. Really need that 'MOTOR CITY' chant in the theme. Think commentary did such an excellent job of putting them and their influence over. I would not be against them getting hotshotted to the titles tbh. Glad we're getting them vs DIY too, that's a dream match for sure. Think the iffy ending (was a decent idea not sure about execution) with Street Profits might mean they cost DIY next week. Between that match and Andrade/Carmello with LA Knight as guest referee, next week looks good.

So sad the crowd were pretty much dead and there was no real pop for the MCMG entrance very few of the fans on the hard cam side had a clue who they were.

    Regards

    P.

Possibly should have waited till Brooklyn next week to debut them to get a bigger reaction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 91,033 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

The MCMGs didn't miss a beat, they still got it and hope they get a tag title reign

Solo improves weekly on the mic

I didn't really get Jey's appearance but I suppose it likely lead to Solo's Bloodline costing him his title on Raw

Jimmy and Roman can be very funny

    I'm waiting for Heyman's return

Good to see Candice feature and win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

MCMG's vs DIY next week could be the tag team match of the year if the WWE give them time and freedom to produce the match themselves.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 15,961 Mod ✭✭✭✭Furious-Red

I think save heymans return for Survivor Series, waiting for the final person to join Roman/Jimmy/Sami, countdown/buzzer happens, Heyman walks out slight tease of being the final member but Jeys music hits.

This whole Crown Jewel thing is really killing momentum… feels like we're spinning wheels on a lot of stories, just repeating story beats.

The one glimmer of hope I have for something interesting happening is in the women's champion V champion match - any chance that Tiffy pops up right at the death, cashes in, turns it into a triple threat title match, and becomes undisputed champ?

Could be pretty fun going forward too, with Tiffy delighted to begin with, but then being forced into title matches week after week on both brands for the respective titles.

It's absolutely awful and soul destroying watching the lads shill for a pointless (and ugly as hell) title alright. Before when it was just an event you could sort of get through these Saudi shows by closing one eye and holding ones nose but the pure blatant attempts now to make the Saudi show feel important actually diminish it even further. Nobody cares who wins between Cody and Gunther cos it's meaningless. Their first meeting over a title should be at one of the big 4 PLEs, not for an ugly title in Saudi Arabia.

Nia and Liv is just a mismatch of epic proportions so I'm not even going there.

Jey and MCMG were highlights of Smackdown for me. Roman getting beaten up or beating up the New Bloodline is boring beyond belief already though and I'm just ready to move on from that too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,167 ✭✭✭Officer999

Wow what a push for MCMG straight out the gate!

Most of us assumed they would be heading to NXT and there they are beating the Bloodline to win the titles in their second show on the main roster only.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,029 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I watched this morning and while they were fighting DIY, I foolishly googled to see how long they had been together, which was a bad idea as it brought up a headline about them winning the titles.

Happy for them and gets all titles away from being tied up in the Bloodline feud. Don't like that they'll likely have the match at Crown Jewel. Should just save it for WarGames.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 91,033 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

Gunther on the mic, gold, best trolling game in town

    I'm delighted for MCMGs

I'd keep OG Bloodline vs. Solo's Bloodline until SS

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,493 ✭✭✭Cotts72

Agreed I don't want any of this bloodline storyline to play out at Crown Jewel unless it's Usos v guerillas or Roman v solo either of which allow hikuleo or Rock to interfere to further things..hold off on the main stuff until SS war games.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 15,961 Mod ✭✭✭✭Furious-Red

I kinda feel they should have dragged out the Usos reunion a bit longer, as mentioned have it happen closer to SS

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Delighted for the MCMG's a decade late however better late than never.
