    What’s UTD fans hopes for Sancho this season? I watched him at the weekend, and he was beyond awful, hauled off at half time level of bad! Are UTD fans happy to see him crash and burn, or is there hope that he performs so he can either;

    1. Prove that he’s of Premier League standard and can come back to offer something.
    2. Prove that he’s of Premier League standard and someone might come in for him in the summer to recoup some of his fee.

he is useless, glad to be rid of him.

We were chasing this lad for 2 years , let that sink in .

All the while Grealish was there for the taking, premier league proven for less money.

I thought Sancho was as good as gone once chelsea finish above 13th.

One thing i will say about yesterday he was given a man to man job on Trent and was sprinting back at times to track his runs all the way back to cb even, where was this attitude when at united?

For me i still think he is in the trying to prove people wrong mood and this effort wont last but maybe he was had a change of attitude. But as you said he was in trents pocket, who was lauded for his defensive job for once which kinda shows how bad sancho was going forward

Grealish has flattered to deceive at City, he has been a let down for what they paid, 14 goals and 20 assists in 135 games is poor for City and the money they paid.

We should get Emery, Amorim, Xavi or Alonso in

I will be lambasted for this but I actually think Eddie Howe would do a decent job as the United manager.

Emery would be a fantastic manager to get.

But I'd reckon he's little interest in leaving villa for us at this stage. Maybe in the future when we are closer to competing. Looks a long road.

Chelsea have a buy obligation if they finish above 14th or so, so he’s effectively as good as gone.

Did enjoy seeing a Chelsea fans tweet go viral the other night begging for Sancho to show a turn of pace. Chelsea will get rid of him within a year or two I reckon.

More chance of you wanting ETH to stay than Emery being our manager 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,173 ✭✭✭Caustic

Ah Emery yes had a similar time at arsenal that ten hagg is having with us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,753 ✭✭✭basillarkin

Emery is to good for UTD has full control at villa, top of CL table and in the top 4 at league, laughable he would even think of joining UTD, the 2nd best manager in the league.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,627 ✭✭✭FrankN1

He's managing Aston Villa. Of course he would join United. How far do you think villa will be going long term...not very.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,339 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

And the last 10 years have show us to be sky rocketing yeh?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49,304 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

Sure why bother watching if its good to nna be rubbish forever?

Zero chance if things improving. Club doing nothing at all to try change. Oh well.

Aston Villa are doing well but they are not Manchester United. If Levante were 4th in La Liga and Barcelona 8th, I don't think the Levante coach would turn down Barcelona.

Not a hope of Emery even entertaining us now.

Might be a different conversation at end of this season

    Emry a fantastic manager,

With Sevilla they were always in the Europa finals.

Didbt do to bad in the league when you have a heavy Barca/Madrid influence.

What he's doing at Villa is unreal, from where Gerrard left them to now. It's very impressive.

Would have given him a bit more time at Arsenal but the decision to let hin go is kinda working for them.

Is he top tier, I'm not sure, maybe yes. His cv is outstanding.

Could he fix us, I don't think so.

Think ETH is doomed but he's doing the work on the inside for whoever is the next coach.

The on the pitch stuff will come later, but, the new lads seem to be sorting in house and ETH is the manager to bear the changes.

Improvements must be seen in the pitch of course.

I don't really know how to post anymore as I tend to flip flop when it comes to United.

    Rant over

I assume you are a villa fan based in the above. Recency bias is a hell of a drug. Whether you like it are not, United are a club whose stature is multiples of Villas, they are comfortably the biggest club in England and one of the top 5 in the world, comfortably, that is the reality. To say UE wouldn’t consider the United job were it to be offered is one of the most laughable things I've ever read tbh.

I'd love to see Villa win the CL this season just for the reaction from potless Arsenal fans.

There is a reason why Emery does not appear in any of the bookies favorites for the UTD job lists.

Utd are a bigger club than Villa yes… but at this moment to leave a club that you have built up like he has, where you are surrounded by your people like Monchi etc, are loved by the fans and have complete control, have CL football… to go to Utd makes no sense!

You missed your chance to bring in Nagelsmann, Poch & now Tuchel. Those guys would have made sense at the time. Now the list of options looks a little disappointing and is probably why you are still hanging onto ETH.

If Amorin is not being lined up to replace Pep (Maybe he announces he will stay at City) then he might be the right kind of profile and there are still some left field links like Sebastian Hoeness that could work if Utd decided they wanted the next Nagelsmann (although technically he is older but still a young - 42 - upcoming manager with plenty of coaching experience - almost 10yrs underage and is now on his 2nd Bundesliga club - Beat Juve with Stuttgart yesterday).

We couldn't get a new manager during the close season and that's the only reason why we still have ETH. It's still a bit of a hard sell at the minute because of the squad the new manager would inherit, who would want that clean up job before you actually can get started on your project, that's the stumbling block, that and the cost of it to the club. Huge undertaking by Ineos and are they prepared to do it and fund it. We have bought badly again last summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49,304 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

Is your post not using th elast 10 years to say we won't go further?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,339 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

It's more you saying why bother watching etc, I didn't even mention anything like that so your comment is odd tbh.

For the next few years at least Villa be a better team, Emery isn't going anywhere as you said so last night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49,304 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

TbF, they were barely a better side last season. We had an historcally bad season and they had an amazing eason… and we finished 8 points off them. The fact we are following up a bad season with a bad season is terrible, but I think makes it look like there is a bigger gap between the sides than there is.

I think if you put Emery in charge of our lot and EtH in charge of them, the positions would be easily reversed.

What would put off Emery now, imo, is that unknown element of United. Would he (or anyone) be caught up in the same mess. I think if United looked stable and 'ok' we'd immediately become a lot more attractive to any manager. Its a big think INEOS need to achieve - reach a point where it is generally felt that the manager or quality in a couple of key areas is the problem and not the structures or environment around them. My view would be INEOS haven't got there - keeping EtH being one indicator and then I also think they have created a mess/problem with Ruud and Haake, and I've no idea (to be fair) if their coaching makes it worth it. At Villa Emery would trust the environment (for good reason), at United we can have hope that Brailsford, Ashworth, Berrada, Wilcox will create a high performing structure, but we haven't seen it yet - so that will be a question mark for anyone.

Well said Mitch. The reality is that Villa massively overachieved last season and have started this season really well whereas United did the inverse. Thats not a slight against Villa, its a statement of fact. United have made huge changes in terms of the operational side of the club in less than a year so naturally, the fruits of these changes will take time to be borne.
