Gaza and the west bank are both Palestinian territories so I dont know what you are asking here.

Ive been to Israel - Tel Aviv , Jerusalem and Bethlehem. When I was there in 1999 the place was in a time of peace and it was a brilliant place to visit. The Dead sea was a highlight of the visit.

I found Israeli people in Tel Aviv a bit stand offish and paranoid but friendly - probably like any major city in the world. People in Bethlehem were more friendly in my opinion.I never got to see Ramallah.

Its a real pity they cant get themselves sorted out over there - they really could have a thriving tourist industry.

Israel maybe share western values if you say western values did not change since 1950 the idf has shot children medical workers peaceful protestors women. People who pose no threat to soldiers. The problem is the extreme religious Jewish minority do not work they have more children than other Israeli,s or Arabs they will vote for conservative governments

The idf policy at the moment is to kill or weaken

Hamas and hezzbollah regardless if this causes massive civilian casualties maybe as soon as they can before Iran reaches the stage of building nuclear weapons

Israel has a problem in that they can stop most missiles as tech changes it's getting harder to stop drones drones are hard to detect on radar as they fly at low levels

Iran has factorys that make cheap drones that they send to hezzbollah

The missiles that Israel makes are very expensive. Its got a limited time left to finish this war in Lebanon

This war is having negative effects on it's economy it's becoming a pariah state because of it's treatment if civiliians

25 stone Jacob that is born and bred in Brooklyn has no rights to the land of people in Palestine. Never has had and never will. People try to say the situation is complicated when it is really quite simple. It is a colonial project that has reached the conclusion that most do: bloodshed, ethnic cleansing and eventually genocide

    another ffs comment

Are you posting to try and define Genocide to make Israel look good?

I suspect Biden has told them to hold off on any attacks until after the election and recent deployment of THAAD systems might been the carrot

If Harris wins he can tell em to go at it, we got your back, Iran losing its nuclear programme is a win for everyone in region and humanity as a whole

If trump wins then Biden has every incentive to leave Trump a burning dumpster fire the size of the Middle East which the stable genius wont be able to resolve and more than likely make worse

That assumes they don't get off some nukes first. Two nukes and Isreal is toast as a country. Two nukes - that's quite a gamble.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,511 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

There is that train of thought.

What probably would happen though is everyone else would want a nuclear arsenal too.

Which if fine, until they are used.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,928 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

And how would that make you feel?

And what do you think will happen afterwards??

Edit; Given the geography won’t that be genocide of not only Jews but Palestinians on a scale that make IDF look like saints?

I am stating the facts of the matter. An attack on Iran's nuclear facilities would likely lead to a nuclear strike on Israel.

This fact should worry us all since Israel would likely then attack us as prescribed by their Sampson doctorine.

If your not personally worried by an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities your not paying attention to what is at stake here.

There is only one country in the middle east which has threatened to attack Europe with nuclear weapons.

You telling me Iranians will genocide all Palestinians and probably quite a few Jordanians, Egyptians, Lebanese and Syrians and the 20% of Israelis who are Arabs

I don’t think you have thought this one through before posting

That is what they have stated they will do if they see their nuclear facilities been attacked.

Are you willing to see Isreal take that chance ?

Re #1 Iran say a lot of things including them wanting to genocide all Jews

Re #2 I have no connections to Israel nor ever been there, I doubt they will check this thread for my opinion before launching any strike on Iran 😂

but just like the Russians threatening the use of nuclear weapons on a daily basis (including now infamously threatening to wipe out Ireland) I wonder if Iran and those threatening the use of nuclear weapons on their behalf (assuming they have them) have thought through the consequences of such an action

Well I agree with that, because that isn't what I said.

Isreal was a post war effort to give the Jewish diaspora back their homeland. Imagine of the British had removed the Irish fully from the island of Ireland, then the rest of Europe and other countries went to great pains and lengths to give the Irish back Ireland. Would that be a form of colonialism?

Do you believe that Jewish people are not allowed/entitled to a homeland?

Ideally the land would be shared by both Arab and Jew, as they both have a legitimate claim to that stretch of land.

That I can agree with. It isn't yet a Genocidez but close as possiblecan be.

Well as has been pontes out the ICJ have not ruled it as a Genocide. They are monitoring the situation. It might be close to a Genocide, bit not quite there yet. Now, will the IDF push ot to a Genocide, more than likely, unless the USA pull the leash a bit more.

The consequences of attacking nuclear facilities are genocidal, so it's tit for tat as far as Iran is concerned. The fact that you think such an attack would be both justified and inconsequential for Israel simply shows your biases.

I didn’t say anything like that tho did I? Here is the post you replied to

Whether Trump wins or loses would only impact on how big of a dumpster fire this war becomes

The least worst path forward for region is Trump losing

Of course it is, it is downright theft and dispossession. Native people stripped of their assets to facilitate the settlement of people that are flown in to displace them. What would you claim it to be ... the great homecoming or something

I'm sure all this is just a misunderstanding. A complete mistake by the IDF.

"At around 6:40 a.m., peacekeepers at the same position reported the firing of several rounds 100 metres north, which emitted smoke.

Despite putting on protective masks, fifteen peacekeepers suffered effects, including skin irritation and gastrointestinal reactions, after the smoke entered the camp. The peacekeepers are receiving treatment."

Mohammed Bin Salman of Saudi Arabia has said that if Iran gets a nuke, Saudi Arabia has to have nukes too.

(sarcasm) Yay for nuclear proliferation :D that's what the world really needs. 😏

it’s always the fault of Hamas, Murdering Israelis who flattened Gaza, were all set to allow aid in but Hamas stopped them, ya right

The time frame involved is wildly different though, isn't it? If there had been some mass depopulation of Jews from Palestine under the Ottomans in the 19th century, then that argument would have some merit. Using population movement dating back to antiquity as justification for terrorism and colonialism is ludicrous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,039 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

I'm not a proponent of their being more nuclear weapons in the world, but it is fairly undeniable that they act as a bulwark against aggression, as can be seen with North Korea. As it stands, Israel is free to attack its neighbours with impunity, free of any real consequences. For all its many failings as an oppressive theocracy, Iran really hasn't taken to attacking anyone unilaterally since the revolution. It has supported Shi'ite groups in various countries, in ways that have lead to more violence and destabilisation, but that's hardly unique.

I am eagerly awaiting the explanations of how yet another bunch of numpties who want to go back to the 8th century getting nuclear weapons is a good thing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,440 ✭✭✭thereiver

Israel has said it won.t attack Iran's nuclear facilities see drudge.com it says Israel is running out of missiles to use for it's Iron Dome it may have to let some missiles thru it's also vulnerable to drone attacks

Right now the iron dome destroys 90 per cent of missiles it detects according to this article

I think Israel needs to finish this war Soon and actually start to negotiate with Hamas and hezzbollah in order to return to some kind of normal life for civilians

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,417 ✭✭✭SeanW

No they don't attack directly, they just use proxies to terrorise Jews and Sunni Muslims in the region, as well as Ukrainians with their Shaheed drones. But sure, them getting nukes would totally be a good thing 😛

BTW I am not the only one who regards Israel and Ukraine as being in a similar boat, the tyrannical Putin fanboy in charge of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega has just called both Netanyahu and Volodymyr Zelensky as "sons of devils and Hitler"

Nicaraguan leader blasts Netanyahu and Zelensky as 'devils' (msn.com)

(sarcasm ahead) clearly I am totally wrong in viewing both peoples as facing the same enemy.

That ship sailed a long time ago, there is no such thing as a normal life for Israel now.

They are a paria state and that was what Hamas set out to achieve. No going back to any sort of twisted normality. For one thing they are presiding over a collapsing economy which is driving massive emigration flows out of Israel.
