I've ordered an in stock but new Model Y, and filled in the registration etc details on the app last night - I just noticed that the county details for the registration address was not added, there is no county field, just City. My street address, town and eircode are present, but no county. Is this going to be an issue? Do I need to try and get in contact with them before it goes any further? It can't be edited in the app…

Bizarrely, I am being given options to schedule a delivery appointment for today, in Cork? No other days are available for selection either. And the sales rep said the car was in Dublin on Saturday. Must surely be a mistake, I only filled out the forms in the app late last night?

Ouch looks like is gone in the US suppose same for Europe

It was mostly a tax thing. M3 Long Range RWD became cheaper than the Standard Range RWD over there due to becoming eligible for the $7500 tax credit as the SR loses it due to its Chinese sourced LFP battery.

They must have seen tiny SR sales recently as there wouldn't be many people too rich to qualify for the tax benefit but still wanting to buy the cheapest Tesla new.

So kind of a no-brainer to stop building them in the US and switch to LR only (until/unless they set up a US qualifying battery or the incentives change). But that decision itself is unlikely to affect Shanghai production of Model 3s for Europe.

Ordered Model Y beginning of Sept. App said delivery 2-3 weeks. Then delivery moved to October. I’ve no faith in that but am hoping for a delivery in October. ( Ireland ) Does anyone on here know when next shipment is due to arrive in Ireland for Model Y.

In case it's of use to someone: I'm at Tesla Cork right now (service) and a chap with a car transporter has just arrived to collect cars and bring them up to Baldonnel so there may be a few more in Dublin shortly.

I placed an order for a model 3 about a week requesting a 251 car. Does anyone have any ideas when I can expect to receive one in the new year? Tesla are being very vague about dates

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 959 ✭✭✭JOL1

Until you get a confirmed delivery appointment the best info you have is the Estimated Due Date (in yrru Tesla Account) and despite how many requests you make to Tesla this will not change. The first tangible sign you get is when you have a VIN allocated as it means that a specific completed car has been matched to your order. Until then its a matter of being patient ..you ordered a week ago, requested a 251 car and you are already saying they are being vague about delivery date. It is more likely that you have been given an Estimated date (on your account) but you want more specifics. What is sure is that any cars that arrive in Ireland will be given to those customers who are prepared to take delivery asap as Tesla always try not to carry over cars in Inventory over their financial quarter end (31 Dec). IF one arrives now they will not be holding it for you until the new year. I know this is not the answer that you are looking for but its best to manage expectations.

Thanks for the input JOL1. I have an estimated delivery date in the app of jan-feb 25. But Tesla explained that since I have requested a 251 reg, my order is in effect, on hold until 01/Jan, and only then goes live in their system.

I was quoted a 4 week lead time when I ordered on a 242 car, I'm just trying to understand what's a likely timeline for receiving a car when demand is high at the start of the year.

If they are basically pausing your order until 1st Jan you might see it by March if you're lucky. With an estimated delivery of Jan/Feb, why did you ask them to hold the order?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69 ✭✭AidanBoland

I didn't request them to hold the order. I asked for a 251 car. They said in order to guarantee that, they will place my order on hold until Jan 1st. It still says Jan-Feb delivery in the app but it doesn't seem like that means much with an order on hold

You know as much as can be known at this stage unfortunately.

Usually orders in January are delivered in the 2nd half of March but until you have a VIN then it's a complete guess as they only match the cars to customers after them leave the factory.

I’m in a similar situation, although I didn’t request 251 car I just waited until the delivery est. was Jan - Feb. It’s all a waiting game now unfortunately.

    Hi all.

    I ordered a Model 3 Perf on October 12th.

The app has an estimated delivery date of Nov 25 - Dec 10th.

Just checking if anyone has the same delivery date and has any more details.

    Thanks

If ordering a basic white RWD now, it's showing delivery in Dec.

Interesting you went for HP over PCP, that because you're nervous about trade-in down the line?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69 ✭✭AidanBoland

Just checked mine and it also says February now

My wife plans to keep it for 10 years or more and we'd prefer not to have a balloon payment to handle at the end of the finance term.

Do Tesla still refund the deposit if she changes her mind? She hasn't taken a test drive.

Yes they have to and do under distance selling rules.

Hi all, first time to post on here about a Tesla. So my story; I ordered a SR M3 in red on October 27th, my delivery estimate was for February 2025. Then about a week later I got a message saying I was matched with a car, delivery from December 3 -17. Got an update today that it’s now December 18 - 31. Not a lot of positivity and I need to sell my own car at the right time so I’m not left without a car. The trade in offer from Tesla was an insult, as expected.

Put it up for sale immediately. When selling privately you have have to accept the nuisances around nicer for a week or 2 in order to off set the better sale price over trade in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 676 ✭✭✭Paul MCM

best of luck with the new car and selling your current one. The red is really nice. Let us know how you get on with collection.

It’s on Done Deal already, the main dealer has agreed to buy it back too (Skoda Karoq 2.0L diesel DSG). Thanks for the good wishes. I got my Zappi charger installed this week so ready to go!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 676 ✭✭✭Paul MCM

nice one, I’ve to put my car up on Done Deal early in January

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,693 ✭✭✭dubrov

It's going to be hard to time the sale. The window that Tesla give you is likely to be pushed out a few times. Until you get a collection date, you can't be certain

If it’s pushed out further, you’ll get the benefit of a 251 plate though. I’d sell the Karoq as soon as you can. Hire a car for a few weeks if you have to or buy a banger to tide you over. It’s a pain but that’s Tesla trade in for you.
