I think he's either a politician or wannabe politician as well.

People knew practically nothing of the effects of Allied bombing in either Germany or Japan. They weren't privileged to that information. You're trying to equate what people could see and understand 70+ years ago with today. Something that's absolutely incomparable. What the populations of the Allied nations were privy to was only what the government would sanction as deliverable to that population through radio and newsreels, both of which were heavily censored and essentially propaganda.

It was only long after the war ended, that people were made aware of just how brutal the Allied bombing campaign was in both Europe and Japan, especially with regards to Bomber Command. But even so, there was much public discomfort with regards to the likes of Dresden in 1945, which many people (including Churchill) felt was ill-advised if not completely unnecessary.

These days people are far more aware of what happens when civilian areas are deliberately and indiscriminately bombed without regard to innocent lives because access to that data is far more visible than anything people had during the Second World War. That's why there's, rightfully, been so much revulsion at what Israel has been doing for the last year. People are seeing these atrocities occurring on a daily basis and are reacting accordingly.

Seriously, stop trying to talk about things of which you know nothing about.

I'm not so sure a "plausible Charismatic Palestinian leader" would actually make any difference at this stage. Israel has already decided the future and is simply executing the plan.

Isaac Herzog - President of Israel (3/10/2023)

"There are no innocent civilians in Gaza"

No Palestinian leader will agree to a 2 state solution, none would survive trying to make it workable, they would be like the gays and Fatah men in Gaza, when Hamas win, tied to the back of a motorbike bouncing off the road

You're putting words in his/her post.

Zionism is not Judaism. It simply is not. It never will be.

If anyone is hiding behind tricks it is Zionists and Zionist apologists who bandy around the antisemitism label. It's now been rendered meaningless to me.

6 senior Hezbollah commanders killed today. Along with an unknown top guy in the weapons smuggling 4400 unit, along with the Iranians he was meeting.

What we are seeing in Ukraine and the war Israel has to fight is a reworking of all we have known about conflict and sone old reliables.

Operations in Lebanon are probably the most precise and targeted attacks of any conflict to date. The result of years of bugging and tracking thousands of senior Hezbollah people. Knowledge has always been power but no it is so precise that even a few targeted strikes do immense damage to an enemy.

Ukraine shows us that dumb ammunition and sheer mass attacks can still grind out advances.

    Jesus how many times...

The Geneva Convention was enacted in 1949 in order to protect the civilian population. WWII impacted civilians likes no other war. Many people consider the Allied bombing of Dresden and Hamburg and Berlin as war crimes. I agree. But the victor writes the history.

You are too entrenched now to be balanced.

That tweet from Matthew Brodsky is wanting napalm dropped on Irish peacekeepers is pure evil . It reminds me of the outrageous verbal attack by Stuart Seldowitz on an Arab street vendor in NY. Both guys were/are government officials or 'experts' whose advice has been sought by various U.S administrations. This is scary that people with such supremacist poisonous minds are deemed suitable to give advice on foreign policy.

I generally advocate for free speech and Brodsky has nailed his colours to the mast. It is however distressing to think someone can want peacekeepers dead.

    Very precise

“At least 1,400 Lebanese, also including civilians and paramedics, have been killed and 1.2 million driven from homes in less than two weeks.“

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,067 ✭✭✭✭Danzy

    Exceptionally precise.

Unfortunately there will also be some civilians among that 1200.

The Iranians and others will be reluctant to engage in war after this because it is the commanders, leadership, fighters. Key assets that are being hit so hard and precisely.

No war to date in history has been so exact and that is a game changer

The use of AI in intelligence building and suggesting targets to exam is a game changer as well. Years of images compared to note digging or tracks, Hezbollah fighters tracked via smart dashes in the cars. Fitbits etc, smart TVs all collated.

You seem to have missed 200 people there? Only numbers...you seem quite unemotional about it all…

I can't belive what I'm watching on RTE News right now. This isn't the news.

I think the tide is changing on the coverage of the Gaza war. Journalists are less inclined to believe the Israeli propaganda and are annoyed that they are banned from reporting within Gaza itself. It's distressing to hear the accounts of the doctors that served in Gaza. Especially in relation to the children.

I'll be long dead in 50 years but where do people think the whole Israel/Gaza/West Bank/Iran situation will be in 2074? Israel must be doing great work to promote the rise of other Hamas/Hezbollah type terrorist groups.

And we are led to believe that Israel is under constant existential threat… Gaza II is firmly underway.

    RTE:

Netanyahu warns Lebanon faces 'destruction' like Gaza

Addressing the people of Lebanon earlier today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned could face "destruction and suffering" like the Palestinians in Gaza if they don't "free" their country from Hezbollah.

"You have an opportunity to save Lebanon before it falls into the abyss of a long war that will lead to destruction and suffering like we see in Gaza," Mr Netanyahu said in a video address directed to the people of Lebanon.

"I say to you, the people of Lebanon: Free your country from Hezbollah so that this war can end."

"You stand at a significant crossroads ... Stand up and take back your country," he said.

"If you don't, Hezbollah will continue to try to fight Israel from densely populated areas at your expense. It doesn't care if Lebanon is dragged into a wider war."

Not happy with firing rockets at Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen and Iran the israelis are now firing missiles at Syria

I'm.sure someone will be along shortly to explain how Israel just wants to live in peace.

He sounds like a gangster. Bibis is gifting the next generation of Israelis another generation of violence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,948 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Some threat alright - not even veiled. So much so that that I'd imagine the ICJ and the ICC have noted his address and added it to their Genocide/War Crime evidence folder.

Today, it's a place of chaos, a place of war. Israel withdrew from Lebanon 25 years ago, but the country that actually conquered Lebanon is not Israel.

Today it is because Israel is attacking it. Out of interest have you ever been to the country, or do you know anything about it outside of the propaganda you are regurgitating?

Borussia Dortmund declaring their support for the regime, for Netanyahu and the IDF. Interesting to read the quote tweet replies from large numbers of outraged German fans though, saying this pro-Zionist garbage is coming from the board and the executives and has has nothing to do with the fandom.

The honest answer here is I couldn't be bothered engaging with you. No matter how I would respond to your post it will just be presented by you as some sort of "gotcha" moment, and if I respond to it no doubt I'll be accused of anti-Semitism. I'm not biased against Jews but keep on making false/libelous accusations against me all you like, I couldn't care less what you think to be honest, you're a pathetic apologist for mass murder/ethnic cleansing.

A lot of the explosive charges on the rockets come from unexploded Israeli munitions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 770 ✭✭✭Fuascailteoir

Do yourself a favor and educate yourself a little on what life was like in Lebanon under the Israeli occupation. Hezbollah grew from the massacre of civilians. Even people in Israel recoiled at what took place. The lesson is when you butcher civilians there is going to be a resistance

Hezbollah making grunts about ceasefires and how the situation is now decoupled from Gaza. Pity they didn't think like that before joining in the war against Israel on Oct 8th.

Israel giving them an out, retreat behind the litani as previously agreed and disarm, let the Lebanese army be the only army.

The systemic and precise demolition of Hezbollah is already cracking them, a few weeks in but their survival as a threat to Israel and continuing to be a stranglehold on the Lebanese people is no longer an option.

I'd say you were fraughting at the mouth when you heard that news it was like Christmas to a child when you heard there was more bombs being dropped on innocents. You were probably in some sort of trance and blushing when Bibi made that speech while being stringed along by his bullshít.

Whoopsie. Speaking of finding no evidence when investigating yourself, it is a bit embarrassing when others present that evidence to you live on air …………..
