Maybe something like the Huawei EG8145 combined GPON ONT including wireless AC Router - or some other make similar.
IMO much neater looking setup than a separate ONT and Router

    Probably a silly question but..

Virgin are currently cabling the estate for Fibre. the leaflet they sent in the door says other suppliers can use their fibre.

What other suppliers do the mean? and I assume they don't mean Eircom who I am currently with and who ran fibre into the ducting around the estate 4 years ago but have never brought it into the houses (no ducts being the reason I assume)

    many thanks

my understanding it that open-eir (or rather get contractor) to lay the fibre and own the infrastructure and that all the other suppliers/provides of broadband bundle can use the fibre even though open eir own the infrastructure/hardware

    Hi Andy

Absolutely thats the usual case but in this part of Dublin 15 Virgin Media are using their people to wire fibre to the home and their leaflet says other providers can avail of it.. I was wondering who those other providers might be and would it include Eir themselves? (Open eir having not delivered anything to the house at this stage)

yeah I see what you mean - I suppose then if VM own the infrastructure there then they are replicating what OE are doing at the moment and owning the hardware (fiber optic cable and ONT's / ODU's and other equipment) but allowing people to choose their preferred broadband service supplier

At the moment I believe Vodafone and Sky are the only companies offering service on the new VM fibre infrastructure.

Once your VM account has been fibre enabled, you cannot go back, even if you didn’t have fibre installed.

Some trigger happy person fibre enabled my account and we can no longer receive TV service. We’ve been pissing in the wind trying to get them to resolve it but they’re saying it’s technically impossible (I don’t believe it) to restore the service to how it was.

For 10 days, we’ve had none of the promised call backs, shifted between tech and billing cause they’re also charging us 137 euro a month. Left hand and right hand aren’t connected and I can’t seem to get any higher up the chain of responsibility/accountability.

I’m being held to some sort of extortion here, they’re telling me I have to install fibre to restore my services - I never had fibre installed before, and don’t think it’s reasonable as a solution.

Any advice? Am I delaying the inevitable and should just get fibre installed? Or are they really as bad as all this and they’ve made some error that’s forcing me to install it?

    Thanks for any advice.

    TL/DR

Virgin adjusted my account to fibre

    I have no fibre installed

TV service was lost as a result (4th Dec)

They say the account can’t go back to previous settings
