Any experience with beekeeping in coillte forests?

Hello! I'm considering applying for a beekeeping "licence with Coillte" so that I can keep hives in their land, as I'm in a semi detached with neighbors all around. Has anyone had experience with setting up hives in the forest? Do you fence the hive?

Very dependent on what forest you go to. You want access but not too much access or a busy forest. You might find somewhere to hide them out of sight but when the trees get too tall you'll need to move somewhere else. Farms are generally better.
