What machine to buy

    hi guys.

I’m looking pretty much since the summer (on and off) for a new machine to replace our Nespresso Creastia. Mainly because it’s a piece of.. not a great machine, but also due to the price of pods and the fact they are not great. I mainly drink flat whites to be honest but I find a single pods is a very milky coffee so I use two sometimes three depending on the brand. I’ve been happy enough recently with Dunnes Simply Better “intenso” espresso however lately I find it’s far from “intenso” and more like H20.

Anyway an auto would be handy because I don’t have time for messing with grind sizes and that but if needs must I will get a manual, what I’m really after is really good and consistent coffee, preferably with good ease of use but willing to as I said go fully manual. I’ve looked at some De’longhi offerings that are automatic but they appear to pour milk before espresso/ristretto which I don’t like as it does not taste the same in my opinion.

If you know of an auto that doesn't do that please let me know any suggestions. I am not fixed to a particular budget as I’m aware my requirements might cost a pretty penny. I’m happy enough to pay a bit more for convenience but no pod machines please as I explained they are just not good coffee and the only decent pods I could find are gone to the dogs.

I got a delonghi rivelia a few months back and absolutely love it. It has the latest gen interface that allows for true extra shots and lots of drink types. They have a flat white setting that delivers coffee first then milk. They also have an Americano setting that is coffee first then water. Some machines just run loads of water through the same puck.

The milk is really hot compared to other delonghis I've had that needed a zap in the microwave.

My favourite drink is actually the Long which does double dose and pulses water slowly and I get a nice balanced coffee from it. So much so that I've semi retired the aeropress and clever dripper.

Have a look at the reviews. It's a bit pricy but it's been flawless since I got it.

siemens eq500 is what i have. latte setting pours milk first, flat white setting pours coffee first.

lots of other options too. we've had ours 3-4 years. easy to operate and easy to clean and maintain. water drip tray does fill up quickly, but not a big deal. i got ours on sale in amazon germany warehouse. #

amazon prime sale next week and black friday coming soon, you should see good discounts in both the normal store and warehouse (now called Resale)
