EneryPal seems way off on it's rates. It has SSE Smart Day / Peak / Night at 25.57 / 35.65 / 19.28 but the SSE doc at below link has them at 31.30 / 39.55 / 20.30 with the the 10% discount.

bigger discounts are available than 10%. Look at their website for sign up offers

Cheers, I found the EnergyPal rates on Switcher so I used that site instead.

Hi guys, looking on bonkers and switcher for best options moving from BGE. I can see that Yuno dual fuel option is the best option however, does anyone know about Yuno ?

Will they activate my smart meter ? Has anyone experience with them

There is something on site which says Yuno will request a smart meter. I already have one but it's not activated nor do I want it activated

Yuno will activate the meter, pick the next best provider 😉

Original poster here, Yuno deal, I was not looking for smart plans but seen weird wording about Yuno requesting a smart meter, and I thought ask question on here

9% VAT rate on Gas and Electricity extended for another 6 months to 30 April 2025. €250 energy credit this winter.

    No real surprise there.

Making the switch from BGE energy tomorrow as my contract ends today. After researching my usage against bonkers/switcher/energy pal I'm moving to Electric Ireland Home Duel + saver 30%. 160e savings for the year vs BGE when looking at my usage. Means moving to a Smart metre which is fine for me

Do you have to wait until the end of the contract to switch or can you start the process 14 days beforehand ?

Has this been published? I can't seem to find this.

What benefit is there in starting 14 days early. Wait until the end of your contract. If it ends on a Monday, move on a Tuesday.

Some companies allow you to delay the switch 14 days i.e. until the end of the cooling off period. Plenty of stories of this being ignored and being switched early which triggers the exit fee.

    It was in todays budget!

Bullet point 3 and bullet point 13:

Thanks, that is super news indeed! I tried googling and came up short!

I thought with the hospitality still at 13.5% we'd get screwed!

Just off the phone with Bord Gais - My contract is up and they are moving me from my rates of 25.65/7.83 to 27.85/8.94.
    Representing an increase of 8%/14%

In the past, when pushed, they were willing to offer a little more discount but today the person I spoke to was willing to let me cancel rather than negotiate.

Is it possible to push them or should I just go through the hassle of switching?

what hassle is involved in switching ? You find the cheapest rate and move online, it’s a few clicks of a mouse or whatever device you use.

If your current supplier don’t want your business then I wouldn’t give them a second chance

    The internet isn’t for everyone

Whats the best rate on gas at the moment? Currently with Flogas

Bord Gais didn’t want to improve from 24% off to 33% off as it was for new customers only. So I went incognito on my browser and switched from Bord Gais to Bord Gais. And it worked :) old account got closed and new created under the same email in the app. So I’m happy new customer of BGE again! :)

That's great to know, I'll be going that route next year. Had you used a different email and didn't complete the application you might have been offered an extra 3% off, it's hit and miss, I got it but others didn't.

Was also on the 33% off deal and the best they offered was 24% on renewal. Even if they had offered the 33% off EI still came in lower.

can’t see that offer, do you have a link? In the process of changing to sse airtricity, but 33% off with BG would be better. Best I got was offer of 24% day after submitting change

Depends on your total KW usage per year.

If you are light to medium user, SSE gas only deal is best. If heavy user (>7000 units) Bord Gas with €50 cashback is best.

EDIT: HAVE IT REVERSED. BG GAS CASHBACK DEAL CHEAPER FOR LOW USAGE. SSE DEAL BEST FOR HEAVY USER.

End of,unless you want to potentially payback any sign up credits you got.You will not lose your supply by moving the day after your contract expires.

7.99 cent Gas Energia Duel Fuel … not with their smart drive Elect plan though but best for high Gas users

No doubt this has been asked many times but bear with me - looking to switch electricity - large family home with heat pump - any suggestions on 24 hr plan or day/night option and providers? Thank you. I know it depends on usage - everyone in school & work during the day and game on in the evenings and weekends. Appreciate any input - thank you

Do you have a smart meter installed, even one that’s isn’t activated with smart plan?

What’s your current yearly kw usage? How is usage split between day, night?
is your heat pump set to heat water on demand or do you heat water at set time every day?

Have a meter installed, not activated yet

Heatpump set to on demand, 3500kw/h every 2 months

    Thanks

must be a very large home as that’s massive usage per year.

Go to ESB networks site. Register account with your meter number. Download your usage data hdf file and upload it to EnergyPal website. That’ will give you breakdown of best plan for you & how your electricity usage is split across the day

Contract up with BGE, their offer on line to stay was 10% on both Gas and electric.

Was looking at bonkers, got an email for EI ( was with them last year) offering 30% off dual fuel and €50 bonus

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.
