First speed test on Sky at home. Not too bad.

Its ridiculous you still cannot purchase anything online via their website!

Having serious issues using the service in NI. Phone keeps defaulting to Tele2 Sweden APNs and won't allow access to any network until I manually update APNs and settings to Sky ones. Same when I get back to ROI from being in the North, I have to update to Sky APNs before I can use phone again.

Have tried the SIM in another phone and that phone is showing Tele2 default settings too.

I've escalated to Sky and have been ringing daily with no update or no fix.

3 days now of not being able to get into my banking because of the OTP codes not coming through. Sky said they’ll fix it by tomorrow - not confident they will tbh

I see. Glad it wasn’t just me. FWIW, I didn’t adjust any apn settings. Rather just switched the network manually to ee and the internet just works. Phone calls don’t connect though, which may indeed be because of the apns freaking out to thinking you’re on Tele2. I’ll also call them to help escalate the issue.

My sim arrived, dispatched from fonua (think they also handle PM ones).

After reading too many issues, I think I'll not activate it and stay with gomo 15 plan.

Just arrived in the UK and while I can make and receive phone calls I can't get data even though I have roaming on and data on.

I saw a message in the settings at one stage that I couldn't access roaming as I hadn't set my phone to roaming before I left my home network.

Any way to fix this as I'm here till Thursday?

Can you go into the SIM applications and play around with the roaming one there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 358 ✭✭Kilteragh

Do you mean the Sky app? when I go into mobile settings on it it starts to load but nothing happens and this is on wifi

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,886 ✭✭✭Glaceon

No, there should be a SIM applications section in your phone somewhere. On the iPhone it’s in Settings > Mobile Service > SIM Applications.

manually select ee as the operator is what worked for me data wise. An unfortunate side effect is that calling (regular mobile calls) doesn’t work 😬

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 358 ✭✭Kilteragh

Ah gotcha. Everything relevant seems to be switched on

I just tried swapping my physical SIM for an eSIM in the MySky app. It failed on the first attempt but then worked on the second. The eSIM doesn’t mention Tele2 in the settings like the physical one did.

Oh that's interesting! I was wondering if they white-listed certain models, but they don't sell iPhones.

Can you tell me which package you're on? When did you cut over, and who were you with before?

Here’s what I saw in there on the physical SIM. Selecting Partner settings makes my phone lose service and changes the APNs to the Tele2 ones.

Thanks mate. Out of my depth when it comes to APN settings. I'll survive but I appreciate the replies

Hi @heavydawson I was with VF billpay before and moved over on day 1. LOL. on the 15 Euro package and WifiCalling works well.

great product, service and network overall. I just can't get 2FA messages to come through. Has there been any official statement from sky regarding this or a fix timeframe they've given to anybody?

Nope, they are working on it apparently and I believe everyone is having the same issue. They haven't said when it will be fixed

Has anyone heard or seen any tv or radio advertisement for Sky Mobile Ireland? Because I haven’t

This is my issue. I was ready to move but this line is something we've all heard before e.g. 48 roaming, the tesco roaming debacle years ago, postmobile and their data speeds etc, things that were never fixed. Until the product is working correctly, people shouldn't move to them as promises of fixing things that the company doesn't see as important will get ignored because people keep signing up to them. Esp with 12 month contract

@purplej "also the Sky iOS Live VM feature is great. I do love that!"

This is part of iOS 18.0. Not a Sky Mobile exclusive feature. It’s available for me on Three, for my mother on GoMo and my father on Vodafone.@also the Sky iOS Live VM feature is great. I do love that!

EDIT: For some reason my original reply didn't quote properly. So I had to edit my comment to add context of what I was referring to.

I’m a week in now but getting a little nervous about locking into the year. My usual radio streaming while travelling is buffering a lot more than it was on Vodafone. But my old Vodafone plan didn’t have 5G so I’m not sure if it’s down to the 5G coverage or whether it’s a Sky issue. I’ll try locking my phone on 4G next time and see if that makes any difference. The Wi-Fi calling also tends to drop more frequently.

Is everyone still having problems with verification codes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,292 ✭✭✭1641

Not everyone. We have had no issues on our two phones. Checked them with a number of providers.

how are people finding the call quality?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 394 ✭✭walshtipp

No issues with the call quality for me so far. I don't notice any difference from eir.

This was in an area i always had great coverage with vodaphone
