Anyone got a recommendation for a good source for polytunnels for a windy area

Yes, I know there's an outfit in Shetland, UK that sells them. Sorry, too far away and too much money.

I'm not looking for a particularly large tunnel, 3x6 would be plenty, but the ones I see online - polytunneldirect, polytunnels.ie, etc. look pretty flimsy to me; the wind here during both winter and summer storms can easily reach 100km, and the 'ambient' wind is between 20-30kmh. The only tunnels I see, are more or less home made, and regularly have their covers blown off.

Maybe there's one that's got an easily replaceable cover ? Got any success stories?

you need a polycarbonate tunnel, I have very exposed site as well and got one last year…rock solid..you can put them up yourself as well.

How did you weigh it down? The wind could lift it up completely here.

The tunnel is screwed into 6 x 2 (or bigger) timber joists, Along these then every 2 or 3 meters there is a metal inverted "T" piece that is concreted in. I used a bag of that quick setting post grout. Its going nowhere

This is from this time last year when I had it just up, dont have any pictures of the base unfortunatly. Its been through a good few storms and as you can see its well exposed to the prevailing winds. Although its sheltered from the east. Mine is a 10m x 4m.

Yeah you can buy polycarobonte sheets and they fold over the tunnel, tbh they are strong and I wouldnt see you having to replace being banging the old lawn mower off them a few times and no marks..

Yeah I did no problem (you will need someone to help though more just hold stuff, the hardest part was getting the ground level and make sure it is square, that took a day or two. The tunnel itself was easy enough as the hoops are in one piece and the end walls are already made up, just attach the doors. Its all nuts and bolts and you cant go wrong really. All the polycarbonate is attached with self tapping screws

I put up a poly tunnel near Tralee a couple of years ago. Im 600ft up so exposed to Atlantic winds. Concreted in the posts. If I was doing it all again, I'd get it installed.
