Shane's worst crimes was a few dumb ideas and it's quite impressive that he doesn't seem to be taking after his father in the disturbed stakes.

That being said he did seem to row behind his dad when stuff was hitting the fan while Stephanie distanced herself, but I suppose that's just a testament to both how much of a shark she is, and Shane wanting to be close to his dad again.

He did mention incest. In the Playboy interview that was mentioned in the documentary. It was heavily implied that his mother abused him.

PLAYBOY: We can leave that topic, but one thing first. You have said that the sexual abuse in your childhood "wasn't from the male." It's well known that you're estranged from your mother. Have we found the reason?

MCMAHON: [Pauses, nods] Without saying that, I'd say that's pretty close.

There's been other suggestions Vince was abused in his childhood by step-siblings.

Shane is also sympathetic in that, Vince didn't seem to have a good childhood or relationship with his own father, which seems to have really impacted him as a person and from the outsider perspective, it often looks like rather than breaking that cycle it looks like Vince wasn't the best or most affectionate parent to Shane.

I still think if you're looking for the best chronicle and indictment of Vince as a person, the Behind the Bastards podcast did multiple episodes on him, which I found quite good.

As far as DSOTR goes, they tweeted some episodes relevant to the content in the Netflix documentary.

Sidenote - I've seen other people display tweets and used to be able to but can't anymore.

Austin came across as a complete eejit with his… "I'm Not A CTE Guy. I Just Don't Believe In It"

I thought him admitting that he wanted to make a storyline about being the father of Steph's baby really disturbing too. Always thought that was just one of those rumours...

And the fact he put himself in a match with her a week before her wedding as punishment for not putting it on PPV.

As for Shane Jesus he did everything for his dad's approval and barely got an acknowledgement until he chucked himself off Hell in a Cell.

He really treated both of them like absolute crap and it's so sad, history repeating itself from his own messed up childhood. You'd think after what he went through he'd want different for his own kids at the very least.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and just say he was trying to come out with a tough sounding soundbite for the doc.

What I think he was trying to say was what Bret Hart would say, and that's if you're hurting yourself or others while performing professional wrestling, then you're doing it wrong.

For a man who got dropped on his head in a horrific way, I sincerely doubt he believes brain injuries aren't real in the sport.

Haven’t been a wrestling fan for years. More interested in listening to the backstage going’s on from years ago from the likes of Cornette, Bischoff and Prichard these days but know most of the stuff in this doc.

Have to say, Bret Hart comes across as an absolute cockwomble. He was a phenomenal wrestler for sure but he wasn’t exactly charismatic and that’s a part of the reason he didn’t draw particularly well compared to the era before him and the era after him.

To talk about how great he was at the beginning of the doc, saying how he “pulled the sword from the stone” when others failed at succeeding Hogan and then saying he wondered if they killed Owen to get back at him.

Hart was a great wrestler but nowhere near as good a total package as he thinks he was. Unbelievable ego.

Haven't watched this but you would think someone as controlling as Vince would have final cut approval in the contract.

I'd say it's safe to say Bruce Pritchard was privy to all of Vince's business over the years.

Watched a few episodes and find it meh. Nothing really new if you've been watching wrestling for a long time.

Found this very disappointing overall. Non-fans would definitely get more of it. Tony Atlas was a highlight and I'll be seeking out any shoot interviews for a laugh.

Vince is reportedly teaming up with Kevin Dunn to release a response piece to the documentary 🤣

Cue 156 camera cuts in half a minute. WWEs product has benefited wholesale from the two of them being ousted tbh

Is Vince acting dumb when they ask him about Sable’s lawsuit against him or is he going senile with age? I would imagine the former as how could he honestly forget about getting sued.

A bizarre little buzz considering she later married Lesnar who 20 years later seemed to be involved in some degree.

Vinces recurring references to sex throughout were both ill timed and extremely cringe. He's such a weird dude he really is. It's unfortunate that the man will probably die with all of the really interesting secrets he has.

He too a lot of headshots over the years. I wonder is he a CTE guy?

Hes a victim of incest. Those guys rarely turn out normal.

Martha Hart has released a statement on the doc.

Dr. J. Martha Hart, PhD, released the following statement today in response to Netflix’s Mr. McMahon documentary series:

Netflix’s Mr. McMahon documentary series portrays the death of my husband, Owen Hart, as a mere accident. It also allows the disgraced former owner and CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Vince McMahon, to claim that Owen’s death “wasn’t our fault.” Nothing could be further from the truth.

The real truth is that on May 23rd, 1999, out of a desire to cut costs and achieve a ‘quick release’ effect that a rigging expert specifically warned against, WWE hired unqualified riggers to arrange a stunt in which Owen was to rappel from the rafters during a wrestling event. As a result, the riggers used incorrect equipment that caused Owen to fall to his death. It was pure negligence that killed my husband.

The documentary also allows Vince McMahon to claim that “the apparatus they were using was defective” and notes that WWE settled its lawsuit against the manufacturer of the harness used in the stunt. What the documentary fails to mention is that the equipment used was never meant for a rappelling stunt. Instead, a harness meant for dragging stunt people behind cars on movie shoots was used with a sailboat clip meant to release on load with only six pounds of pressure. Had the WWE hired qualified riggers who followed proper protocol that included redundancy, as is typical practice, and used the correct equipment, Owen would not have died that night.

The documentary underlines the callousness of Vince McMahon’s continuing the wrestling show that night after Owen died. What it fails to reveal is the added callousness of WWE’s suing me, a young grieving widow with two small children, for breach of contract in retaliation for my wrongful death lawsuit or of its continuing to sell Owen Hart merchandise for many years without paying Owen’s estate.

To be clear, no one involved in the making of this documentary attempted to contact me for comment or to obtain an accurate perspective. I continue to hold WWE and its then-management responsible for Owen’s death. I refuse to let Vince McMahon or anyone else rewrite that history.

Instead, I remain focused on honouring Owen’s legacy through the charitable good work of the Owen Hart Foundation and via the AEW Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

In Austin's defence, look at his body language as soon as he says it. Looks at the ground, scratches his ear and nose. He is a terrible liar and obviously said it for a reason. Probably to protect the business.

Of course Austin knows it's real. He's commented on it before.

What I do agree with though, if he meant it, was the fact no injury or condition is an excuse for what Benoit done.

Yep. He is a wrong one. No question. But it takes nothing away from what he's achieved and Jesus Christ, look what he created.

Another lawsuit for the WWE, Vince and Linda to fight

Vince and Linda McMahon Named in New ‘Ring Boy’ Sex Abuse Lawsuit Against WWE

WWE founders “knew or should have known” about an employee who allegedly assaulted teenage employees in the 1980s, according to five new John Does who have come forward

On Wednesday, five men who had worked as “ring boys” for World Wrestling Entertainment as young teenagers in the 1980s filed a lawsuit alleging that they were groomed and sexually abused by ring crew boss and ring announcer Mel Phillips on the company’s watch. The suit, filed by five John Does, names WWE, parent company TKO Group Holdings, and WWE co-founders/former executives Vince and Linda McMahon as defendants. (Phillips died in 2012.) The suit paints a picture of Phillips as someone to whom WWE gave unfettered access to kids and the means to abuse them, such as private locker rooms. The plaintiffs’ allegations are buoyed by evidence already in the public record pointing to ongoing knowledge of the alleged abuse by those at the top of WWE, particularly the McMahons. While there are two previously known lawsuits by former ring boys alleging sexual assault against Phillips, this filing marks the first time that the McMahons have been named personally as defendants. It also directly ties Linda, the co-chair of Donald Trump’s 2024 transition team, to the alleged cover-up of child sexual abuse at a time when far-right influencers are trying to gin up fabricated pedophilia allegations against Trump rival and Democratic Party running mate Tim Walz…………
