Just called Sky and paid my 14.65 bill via their automated phone system just by entering my debit card details. I called them just to confirm if my account is fully cancelled and I won't be charged extra in future and they said it's fully cancelled over the phone. I asked about the 14.65 bill and she said that 12.18 of that Bill will actually be put in Credit on my next billing date which is the 23rd of October.. so if I still had a Sky account my next Bill would be cheaper but because I cancelled I have to call them after the 23rd of October for them to manually refund it to my card that I paid the bill with since my Direct Debit details were deleted when I cancelled the account..

Just a heads-up to everyone else cancelling.

I rang about the same issue this morning, I have to call them in October to pay €2.80. 😐️

Yeah their billing is weird, this is why I prefer PAYG than Bill Pay tbh.

that's Really good speed. I'm on S23 Ultra too but not seeing more than 100 Down on 4g+ or 5g when it does show it. Strangely sometimes seeing a much higher upload speed vs Download. Have you changed any other settings etc. I've setup MCC 272 MNC 25. Used to regularly see 500MB+ on 48.ie, prob average 200-300 before I ported over.

I ran a test in Eastpoint. 596 down and 35.3 up.

I'm trying to activate a new SIM however when trying to verify my number as part of keeping my old number, I'm not receiving any of the verification codes and as such cannot proceed any further.

    Anyone else experience this?

Also, anyone have a phone number to call Sky on? I'm on Live Chat but getting nowhere.

When the port went live I got an automated message with the data configuration. Just accepted/imported that and it worked right off. It is using 272/25 in those settings alright.

I just used the 1800 number I've always had for them and asked for sky mobile in the menu system.

    1800 927 476

Thanks its very strange/disappointing. I did notice on my latest speedtest which was quite poor. done on 4G+ in Blanchardstown, the numbers below the top for download /upload are significantly higher if anyone know what they represent?

I was trying to order for a new sim this morning with my old vodafone number and had the same issue with verification codes not coming through. Weird one. I changed the sim to to an old phone and it worked fine with that.

Anyone having trouble with 2fa codes at the moment? Can’t get into my banking and sky don’t seem to really care - they said they’d look into it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,088 ✭✭✭biebiebie

Its a known issue. I have it too.

I suggest you email them and log an official complaint.

It's the only way this issue will get proper traction.

Email roi-complaints@sky.ie and say you want to log an official complaint.

there should be a link in the email ? That’s what I had

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30 dos08

it’s an absolute joke - I can’t activate iMessage either

2FA works for 2-4h, then it stops again … I don't know for how long, just test it once in a while, then it works again. and it is really weird as it sometimes works for one provider e.g. mygovid or revenue, but not the bank or airlines. It's like they block certain 2FAs that come from abroad … e.g. AirFrance, etc. …

Tbh, I am not happy, 3 weeks in and basic stuff is not working - someone should be held accountable at Sky for that. … I can only suggest everyone emails them and complains and puts pressure on them.

iMessage does work though, worked from day 1 for me.

@heavydawson WifiCalling works for me and my iphone was not supplied by them.

Ported over a sim today and can't seem to get 2FA codes from Revolut or Aib. Is this something a call to Sky tomorrow will be able to sort?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30 dos08

I got a new phone today and I can’t get verification codes from AIB or activate iMessage. I’ve made them aware and they said they’ll call me in the morning - so many problems it’s crazy

I just played around a bit and found some info which may or may not be useful to those with Wi-Fi calling issues. Seems that Sky's servers are at epdg.epc.mnc025.mcc272.pub.3gppnetwork.org, which resolves to 5.71.252.80 and 5.71.252.112. If I enable a packet capture on my firewall I can see the phone contacting these two IPs.

No link - except to the Sky account page which was of no help. But I called them and got it sorted. Thanks.

Just ordered 2 €10 sims for my in-laws as their €9.99 unlimited eir sims have shot up to €30 each and all eir are offering is €20 each on a rolling 30 day contract!

Switched to Sky from Eir this morning.

My work building is a bit of a black spot for coverage in places. The best network has always been Vodafone, but I switched to Eir last year to get down from €65pm to €20pm. So once I seen Sky was on the Vodafone network I said I'd try get back across for €15pm to the better network. I tried Three last year and couldn't even get a whatsapp in or out at my desk.

I switched this morning after doing 2 speed tests on Eir and I'm a bit disappointed with the test at my desk to be honest.

    Desk Test:

    Eir: 39.9 down & 2.54 up

    Sky: 9.64 down & 0.14 up

    Lobby Test:

    Eir: 428 down & 2.02 up

    Sky: 551 down & 14.7 up

What I don't get is, in the Speedtest app, for the Eir tests it says Eir, but under connection type for the Sky tests it says Three Ireland. I definitely recall the Vodafone speeds being a lot higher at my desk last year before I switched. These tests today defo look similar to what Three looked like when my whatsapp were not even coming through.

That's the speedtest server that you're connected to. Eir have their own one but Sky don't, so it uses Three instead. Vodafone and Digiweb used to have their own servers too but they're gone now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30 dos08

So does this mean that the speed tests aren't really accurate?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,892 ✭✭✭Glaceon

It's theoretically better to have one internally but as long as the server is nearby it's usually fine. I usually use Blacknight or BT for tests on Digiweb and they give me what I'd expect.

I switched from the €10 GoMo to Sky €15. It's another 'for life's offer. Why I switched was the GoMo throttling after 120GB and the unlimited UK/EU roaming data. Well pleased so far. Very fast 5G where I am. Even had 300 down 50 up at home.

You port over the account number from your existing provider not the phone number. Then when you activate the SIM your given a temporary number until your phone number ports over. It took only a few minutes in my case.

    Curious about the 2FA codes.

Are they sent when you change provider even if you keep the same number?

I thinking of switching from AnPost (I need the vodafone network as am in the sticks and crap reception otherwise) and I'm on Android (Pixel 7a)

anybody have trouble roaming in the UK/ up north? Connected automatically as we crossed the border. Connected to the o2 network. Edge was flickering on and off making the network unsuable.

had to disable automatic network selection and set it EE for the internet to work at all. This is irrespective of the location as it was the same in Belfast as on the motorway.

using the default settings that sky advise via http://sky.com/iphonesettings?k=ROX6aq . On a iPhone 15 pro max on the latest update.
