£60 OFF FULL PALLETS AT CHECKO

This fuel will glow when burning. It is a large egg shaped fuel suitable for open fires and multi-fuel stoves. This is a smokeless fuel. So with €60 off the price come down to €492

Cosybun is Arigna Cosyglo Smokeless Coal

I'm in the hills in Kerry and it's showing as £10 delivery but I don't see the £60 off per ton offer and next step is input card details.

The £60 is off the vaule coal website when buying a ton of cosyburn. The normal price is €552. But when you checkout it reduced the total price to €492

What is the best price half tonne price delivered anyone has found? I saw 192.50gbp recently but typically I can't find it now when I'm ready to place an order.

Hi all, has anyone ever tried CPL homefire stoveheat coal? I usually burn supertherm but I've noticed that stoveheat is a little more expensive so I'm wondering is it a lot better than supertherm, if anyone has used it please let me know, thanks 👍

Hi below is information on what each briquettes are made of.

    Supertherm

comprise anthracite fines (as to approximately 40 to 65% of the total weight), petroleum coke (as to approximately 20 to 40% of the total weight), bituminous coal (as to approximately 0 to 20% of the total weight), biomass (as to approximately 5 to 20% of the total weight), biomass char (as to approximately 0 to 10% of the total weight) and an organic binder or, molasses and acid binder (as to a maximum of 20% of the total weight)

    Stove heat coal

    comprising anthracite (60 to 85% of the total weight), petroleum coke (approximately 30% of the total weight), bituminous coal (approximately 15% of the total weight) and molasses/acid or an organic binder (as the remaining weight);

The stove heat has a high % of anthracite duff so should burn long than superthem.

stove heat might leave more ash behind due to high % of anthracite duff.

I burn anthracite and it does make more ash than burning mad made smokeless coal because man made smokeless coal usually are made of pet coke which leave very little ash behind.

have you try LCC hi lite which is Argrain Ecobrite sold under there own name. I found that OK on a stove. It is made of 98% anthracite duff and a 2% binding agent is give out good heat and last good time but it does leave behind a lot of ash but no hard bit.

I use a loop on there websites to get 25 bags cheaper. If you click the box saying buy 25 bags. It say €325

But if you click one bag and click on the + sign 25 times . Then click add to cart you pay €290

Any update on the Maguires Ovoids anyone who bought them and has used them in the Stove ? Need to pull the trigger soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,608 ✭✭✭✭yabadabado

Tried calling them a few times.

Got an answer this morning and half way into explaining what my query was I was disconnected/hung up.

They don't do delivery was about all I found out.

    Might try again later.

If Maguires coal is decent I'll probably go with them as I can't see there be much difference pricewise when a courier fee is added.

I'm half tempted to go with Greers.

There should be some standards so its easier to compare coal.

Calorific content per kg should be one and ash volume per kg should be another.

Burning speed would be more difficult to calculate but there could be a figure for how long it takes one kg of fuel laid out flat on a grate to burn given a specified air flow.

Wake me up when it's all over.

@Lancashire-lad thank you so much for your detailed reply much appreciated!

I did try a 40kg bag of Ecobrite last year and I was not impressed at all. The negative was the burn time which usually lasted about 4 hours, everything else was ok when I compare it to Supertherm, same heat output same ash, but Supertherm will easily last me 6/7 hours pumping out the heat.

I have tried a lot of different brands of coal over the last few years and for me CPL Supertherm is the best going. The reason I asked about the Stoveheat is because it's also made by CPL and I do know it is has more or less the same amount by weight of ingredients as Ecobrite has, but maybe CPL one is better. I guess I'll just buy a 20kg bag of available and try it out as everyone's stove reacts differently to coal.

By the way if anyone here uses Supertherm coal like me well TJ o Mahonys hardware has started doing a deal on Supertherm 5 x 40kg bags for 130 I think 👍

I tried out CPL supertherm and found it no much better than Eco Glow or Eco Stove. Could hardly tell any difference.

I'm holding out for someone to review Maguires .

I'll go with Eco Glow again if no reviews or it's not great.

I will stick with Eco Stove unless an exceptional deal comes along. I don't fancy having a ton of coal that's cheaper but not as good.

they are alright, same as the last few years stuff, high ash output, daily cleanout required, but long lasting heat.

Is that a typo, surely there's not 140 difference between the two varieties of coal ?

Red bag certainly doesn't deserve a much higher price, maybe 20-30 quid a tonne
