Is the signing up to Turkey/India VPN still working or have they clamped down on this..l?

Finding it hard to justify paying the new price but do like not having ads every few minutes

I'm viewing it as a G Suite account owner who is limited to only having an individual plan as I cannot avail of any Google family functions; who was quite annoyed at the previous case where Family plans got an overly generous deal being able to get Premium on up to six accounts for the price of 1½ individual plans.

Even with the increase it's still slightly less than 2 individual plans. Google must have done their homework and noted the average family subscription size, and thus increased the price accordingly.

Still works for me, but I've moved away from Turkey , India. Think I use Ukraine or Nigeria. Never had an issue as I make sure to run an hour of TV with Vpn on each week, might just be nothing or might be helping.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

India option is gone for new users. So can't move there. And near impossible to get it active in Turkey, some say through gift cards via Apple Store you can but seems like a long rigmarole.

I'm g-suite too, you forgot that we aren't allowed use smart-home features either. That one made me make a gmail account.

They probably don't make more from advertising, but it is their core business, and the business baes are looking at what they can make if we all pay more. Simples.

There'd be less pain if they did indeed offer something extra to go along with the increase, like 1 membership to a channel a month like Amazon prime gaming does.

There's also been a recent problem where an advertiser was generating views on its own ads on YouTube, and a load of channels have to give the money they earned from those fake views back to YouTube.

I remember back in 2020 when the YouTube Premium Individual plan offered a free month membership to any channel with tiers up to €4.99 as a perk. Each month I joined a different channel I regularly watched. At that time I was on the old Three €20 prepay plan that let me user keep their credit, which I used to pay for YouTube Premium until I switched to 48. This perk ran until December 2020.

Got the email saying my Turkey account is no longer valid, what is the best country to go with at the moment that’s working.

    1. I was on a family plan in Turkey, is it best to wait for the subscription to expire and then attempt a new sign up?
    2. Is it ok to use the same account in a different country?
    3. Any tips on how to sign back up would be appreciated, I was happy out in Turkey for the past 3 years 🫠. So I’m a bit out of the loop on what VPN to use and payment method.

    Thank you

I had my cheap Premium cancelled and with this Irish price increase there is no way I'm paying for Premium.

A friend spent some time yesterday morning sideloading Smarttube to their Chromecasts and patching Youtube with Vanced and adding that to their phone and tablet. They seem happy with that for now.

My Peruvian price increased by 50c but still just under the €5 mark so no complaints. I'd be lost if it ever got blocked, couldn't return to ads!

Got this fecking email just now, any advice on this one? I read back 3/4 pages and couldn’t see a similar query. Signed up to Argentina using Revolut Mastercard. Wording of this seems fairly definitive:

YouTube Premium memberships based in Argentina require a form of paymentissued in Argentina.

To maintain your membership, please update your form of payment to one issued in Argentina before 23 October 2024. If you do not update your form of payment, your membership will not renew automatically and you will lose access to your YouTube Premium benefits.

Same email that all are getting for last few months. Basically, you're getting kicked out of Argentina. So need to set up a new payment method with another country or else lose premium.

I got same email maybe a month or 2 back. Couldn't resign up to Argentina. Tried about 7 or 8 other countries with a VPN on. No joy. Finally got signed back up via UAE(Dubai) but for about €8.30 for family plan per month. Increasing to over €12 now with price hikes. I'll be shopping around again when I get the chance over next few weeks.

Anyone know how much the personal/family plan prices are in Poland. Have friends/family there so wouldn't even have to go the VPN route

    🤔🤔

I just use Revanced, works a treat

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭Leftwaffe

thanks for this. How did they know I am not in Argentina? Has anyone had any success with signing up to Turkey?

I have a VPN with Surfshark. It’s paid. hoping I can sort something else. Can’t really return to ads as kids use on all devices and have a couple of Apple TVs in the house.

is it just a case of cancelling my current subscription, setting my VPN, and then signing back up?

It's pretty easy for Google to spot, every card number is linked to a country of issue. The first 6 or 8 digits identify the county of issue. Then your address doesn't match. It's Google.... They've all my data, it's not that hard spot "mis-use". And your logging into YouTube from an IP outside of Argentina.

You don't need to cancel your current subscription, it will just not renew. So go to mange subscription when on a VPN and see what country you can sign up to.

I just have the regular premium plan but wouldn’t mind moving to family since I’m being kicked out of Argentina. Basic question but do I need to do anything different except opt for the family plan when signing up to my new country?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,979 ✭✭✭✭shmeee

That's about it. I've added and amended my family members with no issues afterwards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 658 ✭✭✭Tucker.Tim

I have a family plan with a few open spots if anyone is looking - 3.50 Euro a month. It's not VPN'd through the cheapest regions because they've shut a lot of the options down but still a good deal all considered.

    DM if interested.
