He is too upright so the step from casey is mitigation and YC is right

Not convinced he's that upright, Casey is falling and short to begin with.

Entertaining first half in Thomond Park. Was like a half of two halves plus a twist. Very soft try conceded by Connacht that allowed Munster back into the game.

All four games thus far decided by a margin of 5 or less.

15k was the official attendance. 6.2k more than full capacity in Cork

Some good rugby played yesterday. Ulster v Warriors was a good watch. Scarlet's and Benetton drew. Dragons won!

Not Really. Why play it in Cork in a smaller ground so even less could go. Ridiculous to say limerick people not getting behind team

I meant to include more detail. If Munster v Connacht was in Pairc Ui Chaoimh, would there have been more support generated in Cork for a game like that?

Before the modern Thomond Park was developed, there was a debate as to whether the stadium for Munster Rugby should actually be in Cork, with it being a bigger city and all that.

Support for Munster in Limerick has dropped. That was clearly evident from behind both goals being completely empty.

As mentioned in my previous post just there, if Munster v Connacht was in Pairc Ui Chaoimh, it would be interesting to see what support would attend the game.

Limerick have a great stadium on their doorstep for Munster. For some reason crowds in big numbers are staying away.

Mod: @legendary.xix The Limerick v Cork thing has been done to death. We're not starting off the new season going down that rabbit hole again.

And definitely not in the URC thread

Every team that played this weekend picked up points. Must be fairly unusual.

    Its a great league currently....

No need to stain it by bringing the English onboard.

DDoes anyone know will Leinster and Munster likely play their best teams for Croke Park?? Just wondering as it will take from the occasion if the main stars remain rested!!

Not clear if our best 10 will be available… 😃

Most likely the internationals will come back that week yes.

There were at least ten of the Ireland squad that went to SA playing this weekend, including guys who played both tests, so it doesn’t look like there’s any restrictions.
I’d expect the rest to come back next weekend.

Has RTE canned Against the Head? I know it always hasn’t run the full season (and at one point was pretty much confined to international weeks) but I thought it had run pretty much the full season, except European weeks, for the duration of this URC TV deal (which is in the last of the four seasons it was due to run incidentally).

I was just going to ask the same question. Good old RTE have nothing on their website saying anything.

It was surely one of their cheapest shows to run but I also had a look at the TV guide earlier today and couldn't see it. It tend to be on fairly randomly though. Like the internationals would kick start it and then they would continue with URC and AIL afterwards.

Yeah, Against the Head never runs for the whole season. It usually begins it's run around November, takes a break, comes back around the 6N and then runs to the end of the season.

That was certainly true in years past, alright. I remember years it would only have run during international weeks, and other years that it started during the November internationals, stopped and then ran during the Six Nations again and through to the end of the season.

However I’ve gone back and checked and it’s started in September for the last two years. Granted there was the RWC last year and it was effectively their highlights show for that.

Now, when it’s run has I think been very dependant on what rights RTE have had. They don’t have EPCR highlights rights at the moment, so it doesn’t run after EPCR weekends. Equally, RTE won’t have the rights to the AIs this year, so it would be odd to use them to launch the show like they might have done in the past when they mightnt have had URC highlights rights.

It’s the nearest thing to a URC highlights show on linear tv in Ireland, so hopefully it will make a reappearance later in the season.

The TV coverage on Premier Sports was definitely a step up on last year IMHO.

They do highlights, but not a highlights show.

What I mean is they throw edited match highlights into slots of various lengths at various random times in the schedule when they’ve nothing else on. (They even sometimes fill the halftime slot of live games that are only being covered whistle to whistle with them).

    It’s the Premier way.

I switched over last night (channel hopping) and they were showing highlights of Dragons v Ospreys, that was followed with what seemed like a shorter highlight clip of Munster v Connacht

Yeah that's my recollection of the last time I subscribed also. A dedicated weekly highlights show would go a long way to convincing me to resub

I wouldn't be surprised if URC release a Hendrikse long range penalty compilation video at the end of the season
