I don't think boc was cancelled for surpassing the lls. It was to give their new high value signing Ray darcy a job.

O'Connor's show was edging out the LLS in viewer figures (from what I remember). The LLS was RTE's flagship programme at the time. I think that D'Arcy's show was later. Either way, both were RTE mistakes.

Good move by Noel to move him on before the stink of failure at Virgin sticks to him for good.

Ireland AM co-presenter for fifteen grand a year, like the rest of them, probably.

Do you means Virgins The Bookman and host of the world renowed Book Podcast. Professional nerd and "young" old foggy.

    What is this about 150k.

My heart always sinks when I see a flurry of activity on the thread and it’s not about Tubridy paying the money back.

He said he would pay it back. Why hasn’t he paid it back ? Was he just lying ?

Have the confirmed that he will be hosting from Dublin on Fridays from now on?

Tubridy's daughter works for a company owned by someone on the board of RTE. All these people are just laughing at the public. Think that we're all beneath them. Tubridy will be back on RTE within the next two years, probably on Lyric.

150Bond provides high-level strategic advice to C-level executives, helping them tell their stories and grow their networks. We work with high-growth tech startups, top-tier VCs, and Fortune 500s.

Also how do you get perceived to be good at this type of work, seriously did his clients watch the car crash that is RTÉ C-suite over the last 5 or so years?

I listened to about an hour of the show today. There's now a woman in the background, who laughs at his "witticisms". A person sent in a text saying "I have you in my pocket", and Tubridy commented "I must be very small", to which the lady in the background convulsed with laughter.

The music on the programme is all over the place. I was listening on Q102. They finished a song, two-thirds of the way through, took an ad break and came back half way through the next song.

Still receiving most of his messages from Ireland, almost all Irish sounding names, but he leaves out location, unless they're from England.

Hawley, as far as I am aware 'the lady in the background' is Conor, his producer lol

I switched on the radio one morning earlier this week and as the weather forecast was in progress after the news, he came crashing on with his show. I have no idea how these things work so maybe that wasn't down to him.

Anyway I quickly switched away for the three hours. I like Q102 apart from him. It is easy listening while I am at home. That is all I want.

I genuinely didn't know how bad he is until I heard snippets since he started this job. His voice is difficult to listen to. He runs words together and as for calling out the number for messaging the programme, it sounds dreadful altogether. And this is a man with long years of experience in tv and radio. To say he was stealing a living in RTE, for all this years, at enormous cost to the rest of us, is putting it mildly.

He was talking to two people at one stage. One of them was called Conor, plus the guffawing lady. Can't remember her name. It sounds like she's just there to make him sound funnier.

Ryan has no real respect for music formatted radio nor did he bother to learn or practice presenting it between the announcement of his joining VRUK to his first show in January of this year. In fairness Conor has cleaned up the mess a bit but Tubridy's presentation is so bad, I don't think it will ever fit into that radio station. Ever.

don’t think you’re wrong. He does sound somewhat more focused but it’s a weird sounding show and it’s out of place on both stations that carry it.

Didn't Alan Partridge have a personal assistant named Lynn? Alan Tubridy, Bryan Partridge. The characters are becoming indistinguishable. Even RTE ended that Callan Kicks Christmas show with the Tubridy muppet saying "Aha". :)

Season 2 of The Bookshelf is coming along very nicely for an October 1 launch – I’m as bad as the rest of them!

In London, during the week I dashed off to two book launches. The first was for a writer whose books I love to read, Robert Harris. The launch was all very posh, held near Westminster with an intriguing guest list that included the actress Helena Bonham-Carter (whose forebears feature in the book), Stephen Fry (author and wit), Max Hastings (historian), Sebastian Faulks (author of Birdsong, etc), Nigella Lawson (chef) and Mary from Gogglebox (if you know, you know).

I didn’t stay long but offered my best to Robert who was asking about the Irish media world vis-a-vis books, which I was happy to discuss before I headed back into the still-bright London Evening.

Two days later I was in one of the most beautiful bookshops in London. Hatchard’s on Piccadilly has the feel of an old house that the modern world forgot to swallow up. On Wednesday night, the place was abuzz on all five floors (of extremely well-stocked shelves) to launch Alice Loxton’s new book, 18.

It’s a clever idea and a great read. I’ve been recommending it as a gift to younger people heading into Leaving Cert or maybe college. The launch was great fun but again I didn’t stay too long as I was meeting a pal for a pint. Straight to The Devonshire in Soho (where yet more posts for me was being kept in the staff room!) to meet Killian Donnelly for a much-needed catch-up. He was back in London to prepare for Les Misérables.

I hate it, when you're going to book launches, but then you have to rush off in the middle of them. These meet ups with Irish people, come across as publicity events.

It reads like he was a bit out of place at the launch of the new Harris book. Apparently, there were recognisable celebrities there. Many books have a publicity tour to promote them with the author doing signings and speaking events. Harris is a very good writer.

He looked as Ryan would say 'a bit out of sorts' before attending.
