A bord na nOg delegate meeting called tonight on the back of an email from Mooncoin. Anyone able to shed some light on that?

I think Adam Hogan has Cody’s number?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,115 ✭✭✭conor05

In fairness some of the ball Ritchie Reid hit into Cody in the second half was criminal, made for a corner back.

As said before, Cody should have been moved into a central position and I don’t think Hogan would of liked it.

Kilkennys tactics worked a great for Clare’s back, made heroes out of Conlon etc in the second half when they were there for the taking.

Comer minors beat Dunnamaggin by 6 points the other evening, maybe there was a reason why the few were on the panel after all and one even making the team of the year eh!

Anybody at the juvenile board meeting last night? The top table was under pressure I hear

What bearing would beating Dunnamaggin have making the team of the year or making the minor panel for that matter? I recall a Dunnamaggin player making the minor team of the year and I don't think they needed to beat comer to do that ?

A few posters here were up in arms about how many comer players were on the minor panel and the lack of Dunnamaggin players, personally I have great respect for the Dunnamaggin players so no offence was intended.

Thanks very much 👌 any idea who the small nippy corner forward was for the Dunnamaggin minors? He was a pleasure to watch

I wasn't there but they should be under pressure. Some bizarre decisions being made. U14 championship first round tonight, quarter finals are being played on bloody Monday!

Christ is that the same lad that got ye relegated in 15 as manager. And has your minor team playing in Roinn D.lucky he is on the ballygunner fun bus.

Yeah it was the minors in Comer, a little pocket rocket who wasn't going to back down from anyone 👍

Half our U16's are the minor team too, the joys of a country club, one minor came on as a sub for the seniors last week and probably hurled better than most of the seniors 🙄

If Castlecomer are struggling with underage teams, it is a poor lookout for the smaller parishes. We need our bigger towns like Callan, Thomastown, Comer, Mooncoin, I would include Paulstown and Piltown with their housing estates to produce players for the county teams

ye black card I’ve been saying it for years, but I think the huge work is going into these towns now.Look at the difference between Urlingford and Johnstown,A few big estates built in Urlingford and absolutely nothing built in Johnstown who have a primary and a secondary school in the parish. A lot of this is down to the local county council who won’t build the houses or won’t give locals permission to build.

about an earlier post I heard Michael Kavanagh and Tommy Shefflin have gone in with Lyng.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,322 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

Heard the same thing, great news about Tommy shefflin anyway think he'll bring something to the set up. Don't know much about what Mick kavanagh has done, friend was saying he was involved in meath as a selector and was in with fennelly in Offaly? Has he been involved locally?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,494 ✭✭✭Marrooned

anyway as you said I’d be be delighted with Tommy on board we’d have to wait and see about Mick.

Interesting experience with underage both in hurling and Camogie. Some clubs with two teams are dropping down top players to play with second team even though they have more than enough players to have two distinct panels. These players playing at both grades while fringe players on both panels getting very limited playing time. Don't understand the logic. Surely it should be fringe players at top grade getting extra playing time at lower grade. Have experienced other clubs who seem to be doing the right thing. I don't understand the logic and just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Good day for the Boro, beat O’Loughlins in the minor this morning by 6 pts and beat Thomastown this afternoon in the senior

Can never understand this obsession adult coaches have with winning at underage. It's nice to win matches obviously but I've always hated this approach that leads to so many kids giving it up. Like if you were benched from the b panel so that a lad who was already getting game time for the a panel could get even more playing time, you wouldn't be long finding another sport to play. Shouldn't be allowed do it unless the second team literally couldn't field without extra players, or you were solely playing lads who were subs for the a panel. But that's not how the GAA works.

Agree some very successful clubs taking very different approaches, it must be great not to have to worry about numbers and player retention. Not sure of the value of winning a Roinn E title by dropping down players who are already playing Roinn A.

Are ballycallan or mullinavat in the shield final? Both finished on 7 points each and drew with each other on head to head.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 740 ✭✭✭Neewollah

I think both have finished on minus 1 scoring difference. So my guess is that GBC will be in shield final as they've scored more

Apologies, scrap my previous message. Mullinvat 2nd of score difference. Misread the table
