She's in the seat for 30 seconds and she's talking about porridge. There is something wrong with that seat. It's infectious.

    I'm out.

Not much...she can press the buttons better than Ray (not hard)...she has used the term "adulting" a number of times already...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,684 ✭✭✭scargill

I was curious too - but this seems like a p—-take! It's like Ray wrote the script and she's reading it out. That opening preamble was vintage Ray - and the reason I switch off quickly! Adulting, The Weather, Porridge.

The only problem I have with the idea of Ray writing her intro script is I didn't know he could write.

The Relic tour has been cancelled. Tour management pulled out after it emerged the relic would have to share equal billing with second class relics. Ticketmaster will be issuing refunds next year!

I will have to road test the Padre Pio Motorist Gift Pack, of particular interest are the tax disc holder and relic dashboard magnet 😂.

I wish I could say 'that's quite unbelievable'.

But I can't - this is Ireland, where accountability never occurs for either public money or the state of costs in this place. Nor anything else.

'But, we're the richest country in the world'

    Yeah, we aren't.

The €350k pa telephonist contractor surely will have a show about this?

    Eh?

A thing isn't what it says it is.

A thing is what it does.

    shed cost 1 Joe Duffy.

Friend of the show, Owen Keegan built a bike shed much the same as dat beside the Windy Arbour Luas stop. Within a few years it was removed, as the gurriers would congregate at it, doing what gurriers do.

A man that gets best part of €350k a year from taxpayers for 1.15 hour a day a few days a year is often off gives out about how less then his year income taxpayers money is squandered on a bicycle shed

    Both are equally as shameful.

I’d say Joe will take up Today’s show with even more stuff on the Holy Fathers Of Perpetual Buggery given there’s a report out today. He was probably giddy yesterday at the excitement of getting back into this and likely getting the rest of the week out of it too.

It would certainly fit his pattern or MO.

I suppose the lesson is, poke a schoolboy in the bum, it will come back to bite you, sooner or later.

Survivors giving Duffoon their reaction to the report. That’s a solid no from me. I’m out.

was the bike shed constructed by the bold BAM ? I don't care if they were the cheapest to tender. If you got a quote for something 8-10 times the cost of what it should be for work on you own house, you would tell them to piss off. There has to be some accountability for this, and it can't be that complicated to follow who signed off on it

Jesus that has been done over and over and over again.

Obviously I am sorry for the victims, but its a therapist they should be talking to not Joe and his "Yeah , yeah, <big sigh>, yeah <stifle a coddle infused burp>".

MEP Clare Daly's brother is head of the Jesuits. Will de bold Joe have a 'Call Out' for him to come on air?

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 10,538 Mod ✭✭✭✭squonk

I honestly think the people of Ireland want to talk about the bike shed right now. The rapey priests is no doubt important but it’s the start of the process. Don’t think now is the time to get into it. Even give it a day or two. The survivors only have the report an hour or two.

Hopefully none of the lads are buried in crypts in a cathedral…

Won't be tuning in today .

    Would rather watch paint dry.

Actually will be watching paint dry as have a bit of painting to do.

But will be listening to something a bit more upbeat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

I fear thats the reason it wont be covered today.

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 10,538 Mod ✭✭✭✭squonk

It’s why shows like Duffoon’s and current affairs shows will run big time with this. They did, to be fair, uncover this in the first place but if you go to town on coverage of dodgy clergy and victims, it distracts away from flip flops, dead end musicals and presenters being paid a small fortune for a questionable return

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,630 ✭✭✭littlevillage

Exactly. Just in case some commonsense caller slips through the net onto air and calls out RTE's absolutely insane level of largese (to themselves) with taxpayers money

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,630 ✭✭✭littlevillage

    IMG-20240903-WA0002.jpg

A clearer photo of the finished Leinster house bike shed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

That would actually be better than what they ended up with.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,829 ✭✭✭✭Dan Jaman

There's a load of profit went into somebody's back pocket, that's for sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,378 ✭✭✭archfi

Same as others I cannot listen to this today and thta's not to say I don't have empathy for the victims and disgust at the abusers.

The story is available on the news all over the place. This type of retrospection should be on a doc or Prime Time Investigates where it would get decent coverage not Duffy's type of endless ghoulishness.

A thing isn't what it says it is.

A thing is what it does.
