That was amazing and hearing 'In My Place' made it more special

Only after leaving the bus park about 5 mins ago. Don't think I'd be rushing for the bus service again

Whats the story with the blue glasses some people are wearing?

What a concert. Loved it from start to finish. Getting off the pitch at the end was hairy but once out on the road it was grand. Opted for the long trot back to the car but still made the port tunnel before it closed. I was like Cinderella getting home. Couldn’t sleep until 2am though. Still buzzing.

Up for work at 7am has been the killer. Must book the day off following big gigs in future.

Be interesting to see where the residency is next year. I’d consider a wee bit of travel for one of their shows!

Amazing show, great music of course but it's a spectacle to be there and they really do make it an unforgettable experience.

The puppet was totally cringe but not too much cheese overall.

    Great gig

They're etched with hearts and a prism.

Creates a rainbow heart effect on points of light or fireworks

Quote not working, this was in reply to @Exclamation Marc!!

True enough, but I paid 101 for Pitch standing and given the show they put on I thought it was a good price

I was at Sunday night's show. Arrived to the Cusack turnstiles about 7:40. I have been to many Croke Park & other stadium gigs/events, I've also worked in the events industry, and I have never seen so many people who clearly didn't have a ticket trying to 'break in' or force their way through.

Once inside we stood for maybe a minute and I was shocked at the amount of people being thrown out. Security looked understaffed and flustered as they waited for more to break in.

Just before the show started I was queueing for the toilets and there was a group of late teens boys/girls all remarking on how easy it was to get in and how they 'even got wristbands without a ticket'.

From my own experience and reading that of others it seems there were plenty of people in the stadium who had no right to be there.

Happy this is all over tbh. Spent the last month trying every hour or so to get tickets for me and the young lad online. Never got one, but at least I've got my life back now.

    Enjoyed the show last night.

Was in pitch B so had a great view.

Its a very polished show, looks great.

The setlist wasn't as good as 2017, too many weaker new songs, sound wasn't as good either.

The crowd was very young, and the scourge of people recording on their phones was present, I'm not sure what people further back would see.

Alot of backing tracks and prerecorded tracks, not really sure how much of the show is "Live".

Much better having concerts in August as opposed to June, it was dark for almost the whole concert, makes a big difference.

Very interesting. How exactly were people trying to break in? Was it through the turnstiles, etc. (two people going through at a time), or through some other gate? Did they succeed, do you know?

I simply can't see how it would be possible to get in without a ticket at Croker, unless you 'knew' somebody at the gate/turnstile . . .

Agree with much of this. Don't get me wrong, U had a great time, but just not as good as their gig in July. Felt Chris Martin was not as energetic this time round (has he lost a yard of pace??!?!) and the setlist too.

Don't get me started on the crowd. In B on Friday, people were constantly on phones, it was quite annoying. Seems like it was less of a gig and more important to be seen to be there. Plus many around me didn't know Ride On….criminal, lol!!

    Spectacular occasion though.

I saw a few young lads trying there luck in the turnstiles using old match tickets

Will be the same for Oasis

Stewards also letting people stand on the steps

My nephew and a few of his mates bunked in last night. I've no idea how but his mum sent a video of him on the pitch saying that they did (to our family Whatsapp group). She also said at least 20 of his mates bunked in on Saturday night. The silence on the Whatsapp group was deafening. I got the impression SIL and his dad (my brother) knew he was going to try and bunk in. Clearly the rest of us disagreed with it - no one has replied. I'd say she's morto. Having said that teens will be teens and the security should have been tighter. It could he been a disaster with a crush or something.

Absolute scumbags getting in without tickets.Parents brought them up well!Absolute lowlifes!

If you're coming from Clonliffe Road onto Jones's Road, the first ticket "check" is a mere glance at your phone. Any old TM screenshot with a barcode from a past gig would have sufficed.

Second "check" is a very brief look inside your bag. Compartments not checked. No physical patdown.

Third was the turnstile, which was tight, and ticket was scanned correctly.

I can see how hurdles one and two could be easily bypassed (and refreshments brought in no problemo) but getting past the turnstile at hurdle three is perplexing.

I was approaching the turnstiles with my better half and there were groups of 'youths' in tracksuits diving between the queues and hanging around in the gaps between the turnstiles. From looking through to the other side I could see security watching them and following their every move. After I went through I could see there was one security guard trying to watch 7 or 8 stiles.

The security at the entrance to the red route (off Clonliffe Road) were overwhelmed and did not have the manpower to check tickets to ensure people had tickets and were in fact going the right direction.

Security didn't seem too interested on the night. My mother in law made us rolls wrapped in tin foil like we were going to a match. They were in a small shoulder bag. Security didn't seem to notice them. We could have had anything wrapped in the tin foil.

At Bruce Springsteen I saw a security man, some kind of supervisor, shouting at his staff to confiscate alcohol that people were bringing in. You'd imagine you wouldn't need to remind your staff of something like that. Some security staff that night and other gigs I was at in recent times, seemed very green.

I was told to pour out the sports bottle of water I had for my kid, and then told to throw out the bottle too!

My buddy had early Entry tickets and ended up in Pitch C.

Surely he should have been in Pitch A or B ?

He was drinking all day mind you so a good chance he wandered in the wrong gate.

there were at least 15/20 people trying to get in with fake/non coldplay tickets last night, we missed the first song cos of the q they created at lower hogan stand. none of them got in though from what i seen

there were also loads of people queuing at the guest list by gills pub trying to blag tickets

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,238 ✭✭✭Zardoz

Well the 2017 show was in the middle of a heatwave, it was a balmy night.

Only 1 date too so Chris was probably fresher, 4 gigs in 5 nights is hard going. He is 7 years older too.

Alot of the newer songs are EDM, it doesn't give Guy and Jonny much to do.

Look how active they are on this old video

Disappointed didnt get Charlie Brown, it was one of the highlights in 2017.

Yeah very surprised they didn’t do Charlie Brown.

Was the song I wanted to see them do live the most.

I FUCKIN LOVE THAT SONG. Honestly it's one of my favourite Coldplay tunes. What tour was that from? Edit: just saw it was 2012

They had leaf blowers blowing the confetti away off the stage/runway, usually into the faces of us in pitch A.

Also I agree the 2017 gig was outrageously good and a bit better than the other night. It was banger after banger. nonetheless it was fantastic the other night too.

Fairly sure nobody around us knew “Everglow” on Thursday night.
