Yeah sounds like Tsunoda and Lawson are nailed on for VCARB - at least at the start of the season. I find it hard to imagine that they will change Perez at the start of the season but my suspicion is that they could change him this season after the Mexican GP…..!!

Not for the time being, but Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff says he has 'the feeling' that his paths and those of Max Verstappen will cross at some point. Wolff just 'slipped up' and confirmed Kimi Antonelli will be George Russell's new teammate.

This was all too predictable table.

I guess that poster who claims to know someone who knows someone who knows the tea lady at Aston Martin that Max had 100% signed with Merc was a little mislead. Imagine that,

So, according to Kym Illman on Instagram, Haas payed off Urukali this weekend but they need the Dutch courts to stamp the receipt so until then the equipment remains impounded at the track overnight.

    This too shall pass.

Hopefully they get it sorted before next weekends race and make the race.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Only movement on the standings after yesterday's race…Gasly goes above Bearman, who only had the 1 race, in the second round, back in March, 13 rounds ago.

McLaren reduces the gap to RedBull from 42 points to 30 points.

Norris reduces the gap to Verstappen from 78 points to 70 points.

    9 rounds left.

Mclaren might regret swapping norris piastri for the race win before.

If they can get piastri ahead of verstappen for a few races with norris winning, drivers championship will get interesting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,993 ✭✭✭Captain_Crash

Ahh I’d say Max has the championship in the bag already! Norris could win every race from now until the end of the season and still not catch Max (presuming he finishes 2nd in most of them)!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,888 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

Stick piastri in 2nd for a few races and it looks different.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,605 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

Drivers championship not over yet. McLaren looks a cut above the rest and Merc and Ferrari both capable of taking points off Red Bull. One or two DNFs for Max and it's game on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,103 ✭✭✭This is it

While it goes both ways, a DNF for Max and he could find himself in trouble. I don't think Norris will catch him but at least we have someone challenging Max, and a few teams in the mix for podium places.

Doesnt matter whose second if its not Max but while I dont see another race win for red bull without some major upgrades, I also dont see Norris winning all 9 remaining races!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,888 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

Clearly but very likely piastri will be right with norris in alot of races.

Redbull could struggle terribly in Singapore like last year which could make things even more interesting

9 races left and 3 sprints.

If Norris wins every race and every sprint, with Max finishing second then Norris gets 66 points more than Max. If he also gets the fastest lap in every race that brings him to 75 points more, meaning he wins by 5 points at end of year.

So technically speaking it's still entirely in Lando's control to win the championship, but he obviously needs a bit of help/luck along with way. 1 or 2 DNFs for Max will make things very interesting.

I dont think so. If I were Tsunoda I'd prefer to stay put. No point joining a declining red bull, only to be shown up by max getting 110% out of a car that is at best second on the grid, but possibly behind mercedes and or ferrari in addition to mclaren, depending on the circuit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,993 ✭✭✭Captain_Crash

True, I done the maths in my head but didn’t account for fastest laps and completely forgot about the sprints! But I’d still eat my hat if Max didn’t win it this year!

Maybe not the championship but a very good chance of constructor's if Perez stays where he is.

Max winning this championship is like Button when he won his

Think Verstappen will do enough to win title number 4 this season, he might have to wait a bit for number 5..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 295 ✭✭Soc_Alt

I said it before for 2025

Tsunoda to replace perez for 25.

Lawson and Hadjar to Racing Bulls.

Ricciardo could end up with Williams before the season ends replacing Sargeant then Lawson starts earlier.

Norris can't win the championship without at least one DNF for Verstappen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,116 ✭✭✭muckwarrior

Yeah. I can see the championship playing out like the Imola grand prix. Max takes an early lead, then Lando starts reeling him in, but ultimately runs out of time.

McLaren have had the fastest car for the majority of the season, bar a couple of races at the start for Red Bull and a few races where Mercedes were fastest (and McLaren were still ahead of Red Bull in those ones), but none of that has stopped Max building a comfortable championship lead.

Even at Zandvoort where McLaren's advantage was probably the largest we've seen from any car since 2020, Max still got ahead of Lando at the start and led for most of the first stint. If Red Bull had better straight line speed he might have been able to hold him behind the way Leclerc could with Piastri. Oscar for his part has outperformed Lando in a number of recent races too so if he can get stuck outside the podium like that in this race, Norris could just as easily in the next one.

I just don't see a scenario where Norris comes out and wins every event to the end of the season. He's not consistent enough. Max will almost certainly manage to grab another win or two as he always gets better starts, he makes fewer mistakes, and Red Bull often make better strategy calls than McLaren. Meanwhile Mercedes will be in the mix for wins too as they've had the fastest car at a number of tracks layouts recently. Even Ferrari may get in there with a car well suited to Singapore.

The championship isn't over, two or three DNFs for Max could turn it around. But I don't see us making it to the end of the season without Norris losing a bunch more races through bad starts or mistakes - after all he's only actually managed to win 2 races all season so far.

McLaren should have the constructor's championship in the bag on the other hand. Perez can't make up the deficit in machinery the way Max can.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,888 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

Constructors is a done deal for mclaren. Not far behind with 2 drivers performing well. Nailed on .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,312 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Mathematically he can. It won't happen, but if he wins every race, every sprint and gets fastest lap in every race he wins the championship regardless of what Max does.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,025 ✭✭✭✭El_Duderino 09

Reliability of the red bull has been very good over the last few seasons. I wouldn't bet on him having more DNFs then Norris for the rest of the season. Plus max makes few mistakes and Red Bull tend to be good on strategy. And Red Bull have only one driver to focus on where Mclaren have 2.

All in all, it's possible for Norris to win, but you would only ever bet on max, given the circumstances.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,497 ✭✭✭bren2001

If RB want to win the constructors, they very much have two drivers to focus on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,599 ✭✭✭✭flazio

VCARB are well out of it. 😛

I nearly think losing the constructor is a get out clause for that crazy 2 year contract they gave Perez.

    This too shall pass.

Just saw that. Based of his fairly average performances in F2 he could easily be just as much of a liability.

I feel bad for Logan but Williams should have never promoted him to F1 in the first place, I hope he finds success in a different series. He'll surely be happier, I can't imagine how he must have felt after his crash in quali last weekend.
