    Tomorrow's Oasis announcement just leaked:

"Liam Gallagher, new vocalist for Linkin Park. More TBA on Wednesday."

Has anyone ever tried to mash up Crawling with Roll With It? Or Morning Glory and In the End? It's time, surely.

If you don't like them why bother comment? Do you think your better then Oasis fans are something? Come across as a snob in all honesty.

I commented because it's huge news, it's everywhere.

Yeah, I'm a snob. I like good music. Sorry. It's very basic music, very mediocre singers, it's pop, but it is at the good side of pop, they're not Nicki Minaj singing about their arse, I can see the appeal to some people who are used to radio music.

I cranked on “be here now” album on way home. Not listened to most of it in years but like riding a bike….knew at least 90 percent of lyrics of every song. Some belter anthems. Very under rated. I am buzzing. Seen bowl and the HFB (meh, only played 7 oasis). Liam in Thomand last month for amazing. Every song a classic.

Assuming no new stuff this is a greatest hits tour. I am struggling to come up with 20 songs. Need at least 30.

Good chance of that happening. Noel can't stand Liam and how he goes on, that's the problem people don't get.

Dealing with someone getting in your face all the time. Liam is sound with fans, but with family it's different. Noel is too old for his sh1t. Could very well end early

Don't like all that gossip column stuff, but did read something in passing the other day, and thinking if true, both Liam and his kids need a slap. Apparently on several occasions Liam's sons have been at the same functions as Noel, and they didn't approach each other.

Liam's kids should be going over and shaking Noels hand, telling him whatever goes on with him and their father, is nothing to do with them. Also the fact his songwriting has given them such a privileged life. If I fell out with a sibling, would still always encourage my kids to have a relationship with that sibling, even if I didn't.

And you just know Liam's posh privileged kids are trying to live up to their Dad's reputation, so if Noel did approach would act the boll1x for the cameras, so I get why Noel didn't approach. And Noel also made big efforts to bring Liam's estranged daughter into his family, and with his mother.

But again, is it all for the press. I find it hard to believe Noel and Liam don't talk. It's well known all 3 sons are very close to the mother, and over and back to her all the time, so at Xmas and all that, I don't see how they don't cross paths all the time behind closed doors!

The Beatles are celebrated within the UK obviously, as they are the biggest, most successful and most influential band worldwide by a distance. They created what we know as contemporary music. So of course there will be shrines to them everywhere, no one is disputing that.

But within the UK market, whether you like it or not, Oasis outdid them. Oasis still, are never going to be as celebrated, they weren't as important to the innovation of music, contributed nothing in that sense actually. But Oasis did hit a level of mania and hysteria in the UK that even outdid the Beatles.

That's the simple reality. Oasis rub alot of people up the wrong way, I'm not their biggest fan either, but people rewriting history to suit an agenda shouldn't be accepted. The Beatles are a far bigger and more important band globally, not just in popularity but in how they influenced and basically created contemporary music and are widely celebrated for that, but Oasis bacame bigger in the UK.

So has anyone any idea of what actually is going to be announced tomorrow at 8am? If it’s the reunion tour dates that we are all expecting in London & Manchester, will the tickets go on sale tomorrow?

As an aside, always felt Beady Eye were a bit underrated, actually loved the first album, thought it was better than any of Liams solo stuff, or even Noel's

Eh, it's literally the definition of pop. No1 songs and surely the most played band on radio in the 90s. It's pop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,785 ✭✭✭The Golden Miller

Well ye, the old definition of "pop", as in polular, could be used to descibe Oasis. But "pop", as you well know, has become generally accepted as a genre of it's own, Take That, Britney Spears etc or whoever. Commercial manufactured act's that don't write their own music, Take That seemingly the only exception in terms of songwriting. It does come accross as an insult to describe Oasis as "pop", as it is for any act generally who write their own music.

The only rock band that could really fit in with the modern "genre" of pop, would be the Beautiful South at a push. Very melody heavy band, often veering in a direction where you could mistake them as a pop group. But even if a band or act is soft and melody heavy, calling them a pop group is in insult if they write their own music

I don't understand. Struggling to come up with 20 Oasis "hits"?

Ye Be Here Now a belter

The Beatles did most of their gigs when they became successful in America where there was total Beatlemania girls would just scream when they came on stage then they stopped touring

They are doing this because they will make a ton of money they are still not on good terms

I think the Beatles are more important in terms of range of music and influence and global fanbase

There fans are now adults with plenty of money to spend they could tour for years if they want too and sell out arena,s

They made some great songs. Not great singers if you compare them with the Beatles

I wonder in 30 years will they still be remembered

Most Beatles songs still sound great and the songs are alot more varied than oasis in tone and subject matter

Maybe they looked at what Taylor swift is making and thought I'll have some of that

I hope they have one or 2 90s groups as support acts

People will pay 100s of euros to see a group live

Its nostalgia they still have millions of fans

    Tis like Christmas Eve

Been a while since this anticipation for a reunion announcement

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,730 ✭✭✭Jaffa3000

By that logic every famous band ever is a pop band

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,389 ✭✭✭mr_edge_to_you

Disagree about not coming up with 30 songs. I'm actually going to try it later and see how it get on.

As regards BHN, I have listened to it many times over the years. I think it just came so close after 2 after of the best albums ever recorded (personal opinion). Some great songs on it.....Stand By Me still stands out as top quality song too.

I really enjoyed the Heathen Chemistry album.

Anyway, only an hour to go.

No matter how big a shoe horn anyone uses, I can't see how they can be any other genre other than pop or maybe brit pop.
