Shops that make it impossible to leave without going through the checkouts

This wrecks my buzz. Lidl and Aldi always had it so that the only way out was to go through the tills, and now Tesco have started doing it, with alarms going off if you walk through the entrance things the wrong way.

A pain the backside is what this is, and shouldn't be allowed.

The whole idea is you go in to a shop to buy something, not to shelter from the rain.

But if they don't have what I want, do I queue at a checkout just to get out of the store. Or squeeze past people in the line at the really narrow checkout aisles.

Went through a closed checkout yesterday. It beeped loudly. I kept going. No one said a word.

I must admit I do hate that too and I usually end up just buying some random item if I can't find what I want. Tesco is fine though, there is generally plenty of space around the self service machines to walk out.

If in Tesco it's normally easy enough to leave through the scan as your shop checkout.
