Flying to Charleroi, where to go?

    Hi, so booked a weekend in Belgium flying to Charleroi. Wouldn't mind going to Bruges but honestly, just want to people watch, go to some markets, have drinks and food. Basically a relaxing weekend. Seems Antwerp might be better than Brussels for this? Any advice appreciated 👍

    Anterwp, Ghent and Bruges all nice for what you want. A lot of bus lines like Flixbus right out side the airport.

    Charleroi might be a bit of a dump, some post industrial city, but Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges and also Brussels are nice to visit.

    Brussels, managed to get a beautiful hotel for pretty cheap and looks to be some great places for food, drink and people watching. Will likely head out early on the Sat though for a day trip to Bruges.

    Charleroi is about the same distance from Brussels as Antwerp, Bruges and Ghent are from Brussels but in the opposite direction. Brussels Zvantem would have been a better option. Each of those three cities are excellent for a 3 days trip.

    If you are into history I'd recommend a visit out to Ypres.

    The cloth hall there has a museum for all things WW1 and plenty of other associated attractions in the area.
