This is a different ball games the Olympics. Adeleke will do well to get 5th on Friday.

Still a young lady and she will come good I really do but i don't see it being Friday.

    EVENFLOW

Naser looked like she had loads left in the tank unfortunately. Watch here run sub 48.5 in the final.

I hope she doesn't medal but I'm very fearful she'll win gold.

Being a massive underdog might suit her - everyone is going to be watching Paulino, Naser and the Pole now.

They'd want to finish her off soon before theres more bloodshed.

    Anning very decent! Kaczmarek solid.

    Ellis disappointing.

Totally different than her heat in comparison, Didn't start well and finished looking fairly spent.

Maybe the botched start thing affected her, they seem to be making a balls of some of them.

She has made the final is the main thing.

    **************

Great to see the Pole through, Anning with a hell of a run considering her age and fairly full season behind her so far.

Kaczmarek was fairly comfortable there and still half a second faster than Adeleke. I think she is favourite for the bronze

Well she qualified with the 6th best time, so will avoid an outside lane.

I’d agree her run wasn’t great but this would have been the one she was under massive pressure for and there was a false start

We haven't won a medal in athletics since Sonia in 2000. At this level any medal is fantastic.

So we need a PB from Rhasidat and she can claim a bronze.

I wouldn't say comfortable - she had to really stretch to get there and had no chance to ease down. The first two semi winners were more impressive.

I reckon Adeleke positions 5-8 on Friday

pole vaulters ? They are screaming when they clear the bar.

Is the screeching just the pole vaulters? They're always very dramatic - certainly Kennedy has been roaring and screaming after each vault.

I love the pole vault. Duplantis an absolute legend the other evening. I used to love watching Isinbayeva - she was absolutely stone mad, arguing with herself and all. Horrible person apparently, but so entertaining.

No comparison betwenn Rhasidat's performanci in the heats and semi finals. It looks like even if she did manage to run a PB, she wouldn't medal. Competition is tough

Pole gave it 110 percent and still only 49.45

She's a cheat and I'd say that regardless of who was running. Shouldn't be allowed compete, simple as.

Loads left in the tank and a shot of octane booster to boot

Heffernan was retroactively (2016) awarded the bronze in the 2012 50km walk, after the 2nd placed Russian was DQd for doping. Easy to forget.

Anning looked superb in her heat as well.

Kaczmarek really kicked on after Rome too, lowering her PB even further.

Paulino, Eid Naser and Kaczmarek clear favourites for the medals for me, in that order. Rhasidat an outside chance but what happened Price tells you all you need to know about the importance of peaking at the right time and I'd worry Rhasidat has got it wrong. With the run in Rome, I think we all figured she'd break 49 soon afterwards but it's a while away based on that run. We'll see.

    Let's go, Kirani!

Klaver missing the final means she will likely run the relay heats on Friday morning instead. Not great news for the Irish team if we get drawn in the same heat.

400m mens looks like a decent battle Hudson Smith favourite but Quincy Hall looked decent to me fancy him to challenge.

Heffernan thinks Rhasidat was holding back.

Brit there with 49.46 - after a full NCAA season.

I thought she was holding back the first 300m.

Great interview from Rhasidat, very honest about her performance and doesn't seem to have let it effect her.

You've got to admire how candid she is about her performance. Rare to see that these days.

Kirani could upset the apple cart here.. his semi final was worthy of a gold

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,525 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Can't believe Kirani James is only 31 seems to have been around forever!

Rhasidat is just such so honest. She's great. I really hope she comes away from the final happy with how she's done.
