Very poor for UCC are you for real. When UCC took him off they went completely out of the game. Obviously watching a different game. Your problem with Joe Fitz on this forum is a joke.

Loads of time for him to stand out at club level. How did he play today ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭Hurlingtothebone

Very True for him and all the young players. Hopefully they all go well.g

He played very well at midfield for 40 mins and looks in great nick, but was anonymous in last 20 mins.

Standard of Conahy v Dunamaggin was excellent, would be senior level in almost any other county

Village very ragged today (Thomastown looked comfortable even before the two reds), and surely will be happy to stay mid division this year and blood some good young players.

Not sure Zach Bay Hammond will ever make it at senior IC but his hurling is definitely improving.

The Clubber coverage is incredible and could get me divorced!

Likewise don't think I have ever watched as much hurling in two days, roll on tomorrow.

Dicksboro short passing was to feet at times, expected more from them but reckon they will come good. Great heart from Tullaroan and some nice scores thrown in.

O loughlins didn't really have to hit top gear to beat Clara. Owen Wall looked very dangerous when he got on ball.

Thomastown moved the ball well and looked like they could have won by more, tucker hanrahan and stephen donnelly looked lively up front, looked like bad injury to Jay Burke who will be a huge loss.

Village might be few forwards short but Cian Kenny is a proper player and was very good on the ball but needed more help. Won't get easier for them with the boro next week, ttown and the bridge will be a cracker.

Great to have the club stuff back.

I thought John Donnelly had a huge game for Thomastown today 4pts from play and contributed so many other scores as well. I thought they could have won by more if they had played a few low balls in front of their forwards ,they kept putting in high ball. I also thought the forwards bar JD were nervy enough and didn’t have confidence in there own abilities this will surely bring them on today.

unbelievable , i have been keeping tabs on the waterford and tipp hurling championships the last few weeks the start of the kilkenny championship is going to be problematic for the next 6 or 8 weeks and i only watched the dicksboro v tullaroan game last night ,

standard is very high in kilkenny on the basis of last night

The senior and Intermediate championships look very open this year. All of a sudden there must be 7/8 team in senior that think they have a chance. Village, Shamrocks, Boro not as strong as once was and OLG could be beaten on there day as a lot of teams do not fear them. Great to see an open championship, teams like Tullaroan, Thomastown, Mullinavat, Ballycallan, Bennetsbridge could beat the big 3 on any given day.

Are you including the Village in the big three?

KK in 2014 we had five top class free takers Henry,TJ,Richie Power,Richie Hogan and Eoin Larkin.

I think Mullen Cody or Donnelly can all be top class free takers for Kilkenny given time and practise I suppose they have never had to take them on a regular basis due to they club having good free takers

Similar to Henry taking over from dj and Tj taking over from Henry the baton will be passed on from Tj

but surely they should have someone in mind that would be sharing the frees at this stage.

OLG look the strongest to me. Not sure how many of the Ballyhale lads are going to be back and Kenny and Gaffney will be a loss to the Boro. Thomastown brought big support to their match, their home match next week against the Bridge should be good. Glenmore were missing Alan Murphy, Ian Byrne and Ger Aylward didn't start today but I thought they were poor. Bridge looked good but hit a lot of wides.

Clubber coverage has been excellent this week. Great to be able to look back through all the games at your leisure if you buy the weekly or yearly pass.

    Any real stand outs ?

It's valued highly by those involved both players and management, it should be valued by intercounty managers and I think most do as it's the highest standard in GAA outside of intercounty, so if you want to see if lads in your panel can mix it then it's an excellent breeding ground.

You don't value it because with due respect judging by your posts you mindset is very insular towards Kilkenny.

From the games I was at/watched on clubber:

    OLG - Eoin Wall

Boro - Harry Shine, Kevin Moore

    Tullaroan - Paul Buggy, Mossy

    Thomastown - Stephen Donnelly

Bennettsbridge - Timmy Kelly, Sean Morrissey, Liam Blanchfield

    Glenmore - Cathal Beirne

    GBC - Sean Ryan

    St Martins - Sean Hunt

it’s good to see Sean hunt up there I think he’s a prospect.

Went to three matches over the weekend:OLG and Clara-Olg looked very impressive moved the ball well and got some nice scores, Wall and Hogan done a lot of damage in the full forward line. Although they never looked like winning the game Clara had a good spirit about them and never gave up.

Thomastown and Village:I thought Thomastown fully deserved their win and I think they would've won even without the sending offs, John Donnelly was class,Village look a bit limited, be interesting to see how Thomastown get on for the rest of the year.

Bennetsbridge and Glenmore :Disappointing game purley because Glenmore were very poor they were missing four or five of their better players to be fair.Bridge look very good and could be a dark horse for the championship this year, they were very unlucky not to get to the final last year.

On a side note I thought the refereeing in the three games was very good. And the spreading out of the times of matches gives people a good opportunity to take in a few more matches.

ye but not at noon on a Saturday. On the beer last night a lot of rumours still that all three managers back in place, no one was happy not one person, if it was a survey the county board would lose by a 99.9% margin. From what I heard all three managers will be reinstated but there may be changes in the backroom teams

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,317 ✭✭✭blackcard

I thought Jordan Molloy and Luke Hogan did well for OLG. Luke not afraid to take his man on. Paul Cody for Clara. John Donnely Thomastown. No one stood out for me in Vegas Comer match, Comer in particular were poor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,050 ✭✭✭conor05

I see Fionan Mackessy of OLG won the Poc Fada up the Cooley mountains today for the 2nd year running.

Clara’s Killian Phelan gave it a good effort by all accounts too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,288 ✭✭✭Marrooned

I couldn’t get any info on Killian. Congratulations to Fionan.

There's a county board meeting tonight, won't be at it myself (on holidays) but if all 3 are back they will more than likely be ratified tonight. I don't think there was ever much doubt that Lyng would be back, a little surprised if Bergin is coming back but as someone mentioned on this thread before with most of the team underage again next year there is logic in not changing, although personally I'd have made a change. If Dowling is back it really will be a big surprise, I don't think he's done enough to warrant another year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,288 ✭✭✭Marrooned

I don’t know how people think that Bergin is a better manager than Dowling, Bergin has 6 years on the job between manager and selector. No matter what people say Mark Dowling was certainly hampered in the two years he was manager, with Billy Drennan taken the first year and Killian Doyle the second year. Personally i wouldn’t have either of them , but I would have Dowling ahead of Bergin anyday of the week.

I agree totally that Mark Dowling was hampered by circumstances. So why not give him another year?

    two questions

1/ Are the county board to ratify the management teams tonight.

2/ If they do not agree what happens then.
