if you smoke 20 a day, or have a medical condition, probably better off mentioning it to the insurance company. losing a bit of sympathy now.

So apart from him telling an untruth on the form with intent to gain, you not being married at the time and being able to gain inheritance law protection, choosing to sell up her gaff, pocketing a cash sum afterwards and then being legally taxed on her gains, she was fierce hard done by.

That's the issue with insurance companies, they decide what it is disclosure, and they will disclaim for any reason.

So I take it that the Ombudsman ruled that she should not have been paid out due to what they said/didn't say when they took out the inshurdence policy.

Enter veteran crony Noel V Ginnity; now our ears are being taxed and taxed very heavily.

Exactly, how do we know the deceased didn't have an "episode" behind the wheel which was as a result of the non disclosed medical condition. if you want to take out any type of insurance make sure you disclose everything asked.

Back in 1993, Noel V was kidnapped. After a long negotiation the kipnappers paid a ransom of £100,000 to his family to take him back.

Another angle on abolishing inheritance tax would be to disincentive the purchasing of land/ farmlands etc in order to protect family & corporate wealth.
