literally no one knows yet, there are so many unknowns in this. It’s easy to register here, who knows what was in this guys mind. Some saying he was antifa also.

No point in saying he was this, he was that. We don’t know, yet.

All I know is that a man is dead, two people are seriously injured by someone trying to make a political point.

Nothing in this life is worth that. Sorry!

There's about three and a half months to go, so a lot can happen in that time.

That being said, he has a very strong chance.

he sure did respond faster than anybody defending him, well you would if a bullet or associated debris had taken out a tiny piece of your ear. The first thing we see is his hand go up in automatic response.

More from the BBC on the shooter:

According to US media reports, Crooks was wearing a T-shirt from Demolition Ranch, a YouTube channel known for its guns and demolition content. The channel has millions of subscribers featuring videos on different guns and explosive devices…
Having established Crooks's identity, police and agencies are investigating his motive.
"We do not currently have an identified motive," said Kevin Rojek, FBI Pittsburgh special agent in charge, at a briefing on Saturday night.

He’ll turn it into a million sound bites.

Noone inside the gates of a Trump rally has gun. Are you that navie. The NRA does allow guns at its conferences either.

Serious questions for the secret service to answer.

How was the roof the shooter was on not secured. It's a fairly obvious point.

Why didn't the service sniper guys on the roof not see the shooter getting on the roof?

From the video, the sniper is looking directly at the far roof but far from action seems to be completely surprised and spooked when the shots started.

Why did the agents let Trump up and signal to the crowd? A second shooter is always as possibility and surely they need to protect him. In one photo the agent is bent down lower than Trump.

perhaps they recognised his right to bear arms…

I'm inclined to agree with the original poster but I respect the points you made also but just regarding being a political actor, they all are and that is not specific to the US. Like c'mon isnt that what most governments are? A great big bunch of chancers in suits pretending to be the working man's friend. I think the OP on people's derangement towards Trump is referencing those who compare him to the likes of Pol Pot…

And as for what constitutes acceptable behavior in the "presidential office". I think for the most part people are sick of what has been considered normal and the status quo for so many years.

Most people have **** lives and want to lash out, clinging to politics for many is a way of venting I guess. It's the biggest soap opera in town.

Anyway I vote Mcgregor for Supreme Leader

I don't think it changes the narrative all that much. Those who hate him will continue to hate him (he's an extremely divisive figure). Those who worship the guy will continue to worship him. Floating voters will probably be influenced by other issues between now and November - the shooting may not be as much a factor as people imagine.

I wonder if this Crooks guy was a reddit or boards mod.

Bailey had a borderline personality" based on "narcissism, psycho-rigidity, violence, impulsiveness, egocentricity with an intolerance to frustration and a great need for recognition".

Trump's take on it. I'm not sure the family of the person killed thinks the unthinkable was avoided but we all know Trump doesn't care about them.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening

Was basically confirmed after the first debate really..he didn't need to get his ear shot off to get those swing votes.

You might as well post the full thing:

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening.

"We will fear not, but instead remain resilient in our faith and defiant in the face of wickedness.

"Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed.

"In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand united, and show our true character as Americans, remaining strong and determined, and not allowing evil to win.

"I truly love our country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our great nation this week from Wisconsin.

With all the report watching and references to previous assassination attempts in the US, it really is mad to see how many attempts were made on folks throughout history

All we know is a registered Republican, used a rifle the Republicans wouldn't ban, to shoot at Trump.

    Thoughts and prayers 😉

Wonder what sort of merchandise trump will be flogging next week after this. They may as well swear him in after all this and get it over with. His a shoe in now. That man should never have gotten any shots off. Secret service has gotten complacent. The nuts will call it a conspiracy.

Turns out it was glass that cut him. That protected glass that surrounds him, deflected the bullet and some shards of glass cut him. I guess that is part of the plan the Secret Service would have, reduces the areas they need to protect.

Why? The area he was in was a "gun free" zone, and one enforced by metal detectors.

Problem in this case is that bullets tend to travel further than the outer boundary. Fortunately, return fire from guns in the gun free zone also passed through the outer boundary.

A stupid, politically expedient so-called "safeguard", and the removal of which was universally supported by mental health advocacy groups and civil liberties groups. When the NRA is supported by the ACLU, National Alliance on Mental Illness, National Council on Disability, American Association for Persons with Disabilities and a score of other such organisations, one may ask whether or not there is a fundamental issue being addressed. Basically nobody with an interest in the matter supported the rule. But it made a great talking point.

Selective quoting. He goes on to acknowledge the loss of life and injury to others

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,067 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

I wonder if that could that have deflected it towards the bystanders that were hit.

And the good guys shot the bad guy so what's your point exactly?

    Winky face.

And Rory Stewart was saying on his podcast that the area is very rural so they aren’t many roofs in the area around the venue where the rally was. As you say serious questions need to be asked @Leroy42 as that shouldn’t happen.

You forget that he also donated money to the democratic party.
