I don't think it'd have been much of a battle. Much like Max passed Lando, it would've been similar with Lewis. He'd breeze past with DRS

This was another race win thrown away by Norris and McLaren as well. Why they didn’t fit the mediums is beyond me.

Just watched race now, the podium celebration is on.

    Some observations:

    1. Great to see Lewis win again. He truly deserved it.
    2. Some turnaround from Mercedes recently, 3 teams fighting for wins now.
    3. Sky can jog on with their coverage. I get their British, but jesus christ.
    4. There's obviously some acrimony between Lewis and Mohammed Bin Sulayem. He went over to Lewis when he was being weighed at end, Lewis wanted nothing to do with him, and very brief when he got his dopey winners medal.
    5. McLaren need to learn how to win. They screwed both drivers with their strategy, and should have just told Lando to take the mediums.
    6. Lewis was stone cold in the cool down room when he told Lando he'd have taken the mediums.
    7. More races with mixed weather please!

He was catching bum quick on the last lap but was that just Lewis taking it easy on the last bends knowing he had it? It had been a steady 2+ seconds for the previous few laps.

As for the race, if that isn't a great race I don't know what would be needed to qualify.

I'm not a Hamilton fan, but in fairness he drove well and deserved the win.

It's hard to believe how much Verstappen's car was transformed when he went onto hard tyres.

He really is incredible....beyond doubt the greatest driver ever seen in F1 and his stats back that as well. Don't think he gets the kudos he deserves, maybe after he retires people will realise we've witnessed the greatest ever

A mad stat after today is in the last 6 races Hulkenberg has scored more points (16) than Checo (13). Constructors could be hotting up now as Ferrari are only 71 points behind RedBull and Mclaren are only 78 points behind them

Seems like the track actually suits harder tyres. The three compounds were the hardest in Pirellis range and I recall last year when McLaren pitted Lando under safety car late on for hards with Lewis behind him on softs that Lando was going to be a sitting duck, but it turned out to be the right call.

    This too shall pass.

Thought MCLaren hired all Ferraris strategists but then saw what they did with LeC

I'd imagine so but who knows. I don't know if there's any truth behind it but apparently his contract says he to be within 100 points of Verstappen by the summer break and no more than 5 places behind Max in the standings

Hulk is low key having one of the best seasons on the grid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,920 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

If that’s the case then he is done.

If that does happen and he is given the boot, could be a little curve ball for the driver market.

    There's only 3 points between Stroll,Hulkenberg and Tsunoda in 10th,11th and 12th

It could indeed. I seen James Vowles saying they could get rid of Sargeant mid season, if Checo became available could Williams go after him ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,920 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

I could see Haas, Alpine and Williams wanting his services. While he is struggling, he does still bring experience and money.

2 races to make up 37 points.

Even if Verstappen doesnt finish both those races, Checo would still have to finish at least 2nd in both races, and bag a fastest lap or 2 also. Already 5 places behind too, wouldve been 6 places (7th) if Russell's car didnt die yesterday.

Based on recent results, both Russell and Hamilton will overtake Perez after the next race. If those clauses are true Red Bull need to exercise them and get hot out of the car.

The question is who though, they don't seem to be using the RB as a feeder car, I'm reality they should give their junior drivers 24 months in the RB to prove themselves, if they can't they are out for the next prospect, Yuki and Daniel have been blocking that ability for too long.

From what I saw in news/articles before this weekend's race, Ricciardo was top of the list to replace Checo at RedBull. With Lawson presumably taking Ricciardo's seat at RB. How true it is, idk. I also somehow dont see Yuki ever getting a shot at the top team.

I don't get it, what exactly is Yuki supposed to do in order to prove himself worthy of a Red Bull seat?

    This too shall pass.

Probably the best race in a long time maybe since the 2021 season. Lewis at his best just shows why he is the most successful driver ever, naturally things fell in place for him too but hey that's the way it is. Deserved that win and broke more records in the process. How anyone can begrudge that win is beyond me.

McLaren/Norris messed up they should of gone mediums would of at least kept max at bay and reduced his lead they need to focus on that and not the wins especially if max is behind. Piastri was screwed by the team too.

Red bull I dunno aren't progressing as much as they hoped and max is the only thing keeping them from being a midfield/Aston like team at the moment. Checo Sergio Perez needs to go he is just poor and shouldn't be in that car. Maybe Merc did find the ceiling on it and red bull have hit it or Newry leaving is more detrimental than hornyier wanted us to believe.

F me Ferrari what the hell are they trying to make leclerc leave with these starts. They need to up their game big time like the start of the season.

Congrats to hulk showing he is a dam good racer just needs the equipment. Hopefully Audi provides. Has out scored Perez for the past few races.

So focused on the top didn't notice much hell most of the coverage focused on the front so the rest of the pack got glazed over.

Oh and logie bear isn't 22/21 in a 20 car championship anymore he did well and has out qualified Perez 6/7 times this year.

Perez needs to go ha ha
