June gallery has been updated with images from Saturday 15th from Heuston, Bray, Enniscorthy and LUAS trams.
On Sunday I had to head back from Dublin to Killarney and elected to go an hour earlier than required and travel via Cork as I knew 26001 (2601 + 2602) were due to be part of the 1450 Cork - Tralee service. It also meant the mad scramble for seats at Mallow would be avoided. Later in the evening I got the 2600's returning from Tralee to Cork outside Killarney.

I didn't know that two Dublin-bound services from Mallow use platform 3 every day. I've only ever once taken a Mallow-Dublin train from platform 3 (usually the Kerry platform), and that was due to a broken-down mark IV set stuck at platform 2.

I'm glad they're finally installing indicator signs at Mallow, though they didn't appear to be working when I went through the station on Tuesday. Having grown up in the town, platform 1 was always for Cork, 2 for Dublin and 3 for Kerry, but "always" isn't the case anymore - if there's a Tralee service on platform 3, some Cork-bound services will call at platform 2 instead of 1.

Rail services commenced at the new Belfast Grand Central Station on Sunday 13th October. Unfortunately I haven't had an opportunity to get up to Belfast yet due to a large number of personal and professional commitments lately. So with thanks to Belfast based enthusiast, Matthew Wilson, he has kindly allowed use of a selection of his photos to record this historic event. Belfast Grand Central replaced the adjacent Great Victoria Street Station which closed last May.
