Tubs has an issue. The double entendre of the drink "Muff Liqour" upsets his genteel sensibilities. He won't be promoting it too often himself.

Finally some positive news regarding ratings for the most trusted man in Ireland.

Himself and NK's performance helped Oireachtas TV to smash their previous record for 'minutes consumed' of their live stream. Quite an achievement to have on his CV...

Does he separate "his money" from our money when investing?

I guess calling liquid assets returns works too.

It actually has a good forum that's very active, so it can be useful for some shows that would have slow boards here.

Has some awful types, but that's the same for any online forum.

The moderators are a disgrace though. They give a tiny amount of warnings for saying the odd non-politically correct thing and then ban you completely. These warnings could be years apart and the thing I was finally banned for saying was that I thought there were too many non-whites coming into Eastenders at that time. There wasn't the slightest hint of "racism" or anything about it, just how I felt like it was getting too much that way, how is that racist. Banning accounts that were multiple years old for that sort of thing.

Why it's a big deal is because they are very paranoid and strict about people registering to join the site. If your IP address looks anything like what they banned before or looks like a vpn or anything like that they deny registration, and a lot of people who were completely innocent have had major trouble registering. I tried a few times and then said forget it, but occasionally would still view it the odd time to see what they're saying about something.

Hilarious where all the "rage listeners" have to start their posts with an intro on how they "accidently" listened to him for a full 2 hours that day (and every day oddly enough).

Lets just confirm, you stated you were listening to Q102's the night before (so that would be the night time love music show), then you got into your car the next day and accidently listened to his show. Any reason why you didn't change the dial?, did you have a stroke, or was your car seat so sticky from the night before that you were unable to reach the dial, or maybe someone with a gun forced you to listen and then forced you to spend an hour googling tubberty and then forced you to log onto boards.ie and post your daily update?

And tell us more about the time you saw him at some gigs, if he had waved back to you would you have been able to simply move on with your life?

Its mad how the forum is plagued with them and the mods (while not as efficient as pre-vanilla) keep a lid on most of it, a certain cohort seem to have free reign

I'm not a rage listener , I've listened to him when he started on Q102 to give him a chance but not my cup of tea so turned it off and went back to Nova and posted about it at the time

My post was actually in a reply to someone else that mentioned listening to him talk about the same shop closing down

I forgot he was on at weekends and so when I heard his voice I listened for 5 mins and turned off. Its not rocket science.

Tubs was on the rough end of a bit of “banter”/borderline heckling at the Taylor concert he showed up at.

A good number of ppl - punters AND a concert usher (bit unprofessional I will admit) shouted at him to “repay what you owe the taxpayer”, “you’re a disgrace Ryan”, “you have ruined RTÉ”, “go back to london-they can have you”.

Along with a smattering of colourful language.

Tubridy feigned not to hear the comments but his partner was visibly annoyed and nudged him in the ribs at one point to “stand up for himself” but he kept Schtum - NK media training came into play there.

ALLEGEDLY he absolutely burned the ear off Duck Egg Kelly the following morning over the phone - angry that he - AND the partner he was determined to woo and impress - had been exposed first hand as such, to public opprobrium raining down upon him.

It's an interesting story. But in fairness there is lack of proof, where on the grapevine did you hear he'd been heckled?

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

    “Happier than ever”

A phrase repeated my puff piece media with every pic. So how do we grade his happiness as it seems to go stepwise upwards if one is to follow the logic. When is the peak happiness point? And after that is reached what will media say? “Ryan is as happy as he was last week”

regarding the term “rage listening”, it’s terribly misused in these parts. Rage is defined as “violent uncontrollable anger”. I don’t see any evidence here of that, or posters reporting the stressful aftermath of a violent episode experienced that might have taken a toll on blood pressure etc. No, here I would define it as “cynical listening”, a calmer pursuit altogether, where a bit of bemused analysis of Ryan’s gaffs is undertaken for mild amusement. Maybe I would compare it to watching Laurel and Hardy. There’s no anger involved, only amusement at the comedy, and becomes even more amusing when it is not even intended.

Smart move by Tubs not to engage the naysayers at the Aviva. As it stands its just a rumour with little circulation. Had he told anyone to F themselves, he'd be all over the socials looking like a right prat.

Looks like he learned a valuable lesson last summer about closing his gob at the right time!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,550 ✭✭✭RoTelly

If it did happen it show that people aren't all that happy with what happened last summer and what is still happening now.

I'd take the above anecdote with a very large pinch of salt tbh.

I have no doubt that there are people who would take the opportunity if it came their way to challenge him.

But like I said, a very large pinch of salt here.

Indeed,I've no doubt Tubridy will get grief in public for the rest of his life,I've no doubt he got comments at TS.

However the poster who gave a run down of what happened has questionable credibility. For anyone familiar with the TS thread hes "GAA bus full of kids with no tickets guy".

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 8,877 Mod ✭✭✭✭HildaOgdenx

Exactly. He is kinda fond of the anecdotes. 😉

So as I said, while I can well believe that Tubridy will face hassle in public, from time to time, I will take that with a very very large pinch of salt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,334 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

People are at a Swift gig to enjoy themselves, not going around looking to berate someone for refusing to pay back €150k of public money that they said they were going to pay back.

fixed that for you there chap.

Isay there are plenty of those people, but probably not at the Taylor Swift gig

    Exactly.
Like I said, taken with a large pinch of salt.

No. That and the alleged phone call from the day after are straight out of screenwriting school. Neither happened.
