I agree I do like them, the A6 Etron looks a cracker. I hope it's faithful to concept, they said it will be close enough

Id7 tourer looks great. Better than the hatch. Wouldn't be surprised to see it sub 50k starting.

Can't see how it's so more expensive than id4

It's nicer but it won't be in as much demand

EVs are not selling. Let's see how it goes for a few months I suppose.

    it’s 56500

it has a much better spec than the top spec ID.4. The only extra I’d want in it is the Harmon Kardon sound system. ( dreaming here obviously)

Oh yeah I know its 56,500 now……just hoping it drops to sub 50k, only a guess.

Although, there would be huge backlash again if they did it. And it is the flagship EV at the moment.

I'd just be wary these days of buying something a little out of kilter with the market, no matter how nice.

My phone is bombarded with 65/70k Audi Q4s at the moment, I think thats a nuts price!!

I will buy one when it hits 25k in late 2026 or early '27. :p

Would VW really cut a chunk out of their new car retail price again so soon after the last drop?

I need a PHEV/Electric Estate or SUV and it's a real conundrum whether to wait or switch to something smaller electric to get me through the choppy market period with a lower fuel bill but with some money in my pocket in case things improve for buyers.

they won’t drop the price on this I’d say. It’s just launched and squeezed under the seai grant limit. I don’t think things will get much better for buyers than they are now honestly.

I too have been looking for a PHEV/EV estate, BMWs are pretty expensive and Octavia iVs, which are well reviewed, are pretty scarce here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 945 ✭✭✭3d4life

In a similar situation and really hoping there is something ( much ) better than an Octavia IV to be found ( peruse https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/396-skoda-octavia-mk-iv-2020/ at your leisure )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,399 ✭✭✭✭Hurrache

I've been reading that almost daily, there can be confusion between iV and IV when it comes to the 4th gen Octavia, iV being the PHEV version. Main issue is software related which seems to have been resolved by updates and not all affected anyway. Hardware wise the car is well rated, industry mags/websites also rank it well in it's category.

Good to see a decent estate entering the EV world. Pricey for sure, but not crazy I guess.

Was always a banana's decisions regardless of numbers. The brand is synonyms with the Wagon

”Plans for any electric Volvo estate remain under wraps, with the Swedish company moving to streamline its line-up to focus on a small number of core segments as it expands its EV offering.”

    hopefully this bodes well anyway.

saw a 308 sw on the road today - not sure whether it was an ice or ev but really nice looking estate

I sat in the regular 308 last week. It’s grand but I wasn’t sure if the estate would have more room in rear seats. Renting an e2008 soon in France so will see what they are like.

I've been in the saloon version. Doesn't fell anywhere near the quality you would expect for a car getting close to 100k with some options.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,100 ✭✭✭✭fits

I’d say the ID.7 is best option out there at the moment but that’s pretty steep too.

I genuinely do believe a well designed good looking estate would sell very well. There's an apathy out there with the 4x4 crossover style units. People do want range and ability to carry.

But they want value and the value part hasn't manifested itself outside the let's face it uglier MG .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,438 ✭✭✭positron

MG is rumoured to release Wuling's Cloud EV as their own in India. It's a sort of a small MPV-ish car, looks marmite, but roomy and practical. Not sure if they will sell this in Europe.

    https://wuling.id/en/cloud-ev

MG sells MG Comet in India - a tiny EV - and that is also on the Wuling website as 'Wuling Air EV'. Perhaps MG will find an existing Chinese estate car and rebrand it as the next MG version in Europe.. just perhaps!
