Detecting wiring in 100mm insulated wall

hi all,

What is the best wiring detector (stud finder?) for detecting live wires in behind a 100mm insulated plasterboard slab?
I know this will only give an indication and I’ll have to use the location of sockets and light switches etc to give an idea if there are any wires in the vicinity.
I’ve to hang a few pics and a TV etc.

Also is there anything like a signal generator that could be hooked onto a disconnected leg of a socket circuit, so that it sends a signal through that leg of wiring and a detector can pick up that signal- if ya get me.

the cables should be coming vertically or horizontally into the socket\switch

100mm is fairly deep so if you’re careful you shouldn’t have to drill that far

yeah get ya the cables should be vertical or horizontal to sockets and switches but I’ve to mount a tv to the wall so need to get at the block behind the 100mm insulated plasterboard if ya get me so I would prefer to have some device to give me an indication if there are live wires in the vicinity- just in case.

You can detect the metal, wood of electrical noise. Devices often have different switch editions. If you avoid sockets and light switches vertically you should be ok. Tech the car side of wall for sockets on the other side in other rooms.

the new led tvs are so light now that I’d have no concerns fitting the bracket to the insulated aero board without reaching the blockwork.
