You won't convince me that Toulouse win that without the yellow card. They were out on their feet momentum was with Leinster, and there was a 10 point swing as a result and Toulouse were re-energized. Could we have played smarter? Yes. But I'm f*cking sick of having to talk about refs making blatantly incompetent mistakes and inconsistently reffing teams.

Carley is so out of his depth it's not funny.

On our own side, Leo needs to take a hard look at our on field decision making.

They're far from clueless. They are consistently making finals but obviously not good enough. Cullen moving on might be an option as a bit of a reset is needed.

Leinster backline is thin. Really missed Ringrose.

Need to see the emergence/establishment of Osborne, Prendergast, TOB, JOB as regular influencers on games

    Carley's been dreadful today.

Ahki batted out no sanction vs Lowe YC Totally changes the game.

Two no arms tackles not reviewed.

Willis in from the side which led to a near try but for Larmour tackle.

"Use it" for Leinster maul immediately while Toulouse maul stalls and nothing said.

Dupont 1 sec turnover; Sheehan 5 seconds before a penalty given.

Misses Lebel knock on, Healy headshot as a result.

Rip by Ntamack called a knock on. Try disallowed.

Having said all that, Leinster had enough territory and possession to win that game. A literal cigarette paper between these sides. Dupont the difference maker.

As A Leinster fan , Toulose were the better team , played better rugby, forwards are good , but the backs not good eneogh , Ringrose seriously missed in midfield and a top quality 10. Dupont what a player, head and shoulders best player on the pitc, JPG is good, but Dupont won the 9 battle, by some.

I know it’s hard to accept but the ref wasn’t a factor in the result today. It was a yellow card all day long.

Leinster made so many bad decisions today.

Leinster messed that up big time, but good god did the ref give as much to Toulouse as humanly possible.

Toulouse won the 2nd half of ET 9-0 down a man, due to some of the most brain dead rugby I have ever seen!

Cullen is so far out of his depth when it matters

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,598 ✭✭✭joseywhales

I have never said it before(honestly) but Cullen has to go now, three tries is enough for anyone, whether it was his decision making or not , to develop Ross Byrne for example ahead of carbery and frawley and other ball players, when your culture is a ball playing team fundamentally is just cowardice and you cannot win with cowards. Cullen is at the top and his head must fall as an example.

Leinster bottled that final...make no mistake...

Serious question marks over their mental strength....

Himself and JGP were not only immense at scrum half but they were the best players in other people's positions.

You would recognise that trait from their performances in the irish jersey.

Ninebar is on his way to SA for another 2nd row, at least 2 outhalves and some junior players that at least know the laws (rules) of Rugby Union.

that wasn’t Healys fault. The support players were way too slow.

Larmour had a good game defensively, but we desperately could've done with JOB's creativity to spark something.

Leinster had so much possession and territory in to game which they couldn't convert into points. Completely different to previous fixtures against Toulouse where we scythed through them.

Our attack just isn't as good as seasons past. We didn't seem to acknowledge that until it was too late. Turned down so many kickable opportunities.

Congrats Toulouse, best team on the day.

I'm devastated at the result. Leinster looked like they really tried hard to go up against Toulouse. However Leinster have fallen well short of their efforts today for their 3rd Final in a row.

It's such a huge disappointment to see Leinster fall down at this hurdle once again. Their confidence as a team must be completely destroyed at this particular great moment of greatness before them.

Toulouse however have won their sixth star at a European Rugby Final. That is a really huge achievement for the whole team. They are one of the best sides of Europe at this time.

Sorry, the standard was set in the first half. If you're going to ref the one handed knock on in the first half a couple of meters from the line as not even a penalty, then you go straight to a yellow for one where the ball goes through both Lowes hands near the 22, then you're not reffing consistently. What would have happened if he'd given a yellow in the first half when we were starting to settle and start to apply pressure. The ref was absolutely a factor.

Our bad decisions were a factor too. Both things can be true.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,491 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

I don't think Leinster were ever ahead.

Could have taken a penalty to go ahead which would have surely changed the dynamic of the game.

A fantastic win by Toulouse. Well deserved. They played excellent Cup final rugby. Defended extremely well and took their points when the opportunities came.

I was driving for the DG at the end of normal time, was it close?

  • Administrators Posts: 56,260 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

the one in the first half wasn’t a knock on. It went backwards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,029 ✭✭✭ironingbored

The question is why wasn't it the same for Toulouse batting it out in the first half. It's the inconsistencies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,072 ✭✭✭KaneToad

At the start of the season I thought Byrne was the better option for the green 10 shirt. However he's been so inconsistent since he returned from injury. Another okish performance but we need more than that from a Leinster 10.

Will Frawley get a look in again? Will Prendergast be able to make the step up?

Carley was even-handed. When it gets frenetic he doesn't worry about details, for any team. He stood and watched Porter boring in for long stretches because he's not terribly au fait with scrums.
