Is there a limit on the number of times the date a Registry Office marriage can be changed

A couple who live here in Nenagh, having paid the 200 euro fee, for a variety of reasons changed the date for the reg office service in Nenagh.

They changed it last week and were told that they couldn't change it again.

Anyone any thoughts?

Does this mean they would need to go to Dublin, or another county or what?

I presume they just forfeit the 200 euro if they want to change again.
They would need to pay 200 euro again to get another date?

It's probably more to do with the marriage registration form. The marriage has to take part within 6 months of the date given on that form. If it doesn't they have to start the registration (and pay the €200 fee) again.

Many thanks, I gather that is not the issue as the 200 is not a problem.

Not clear what th reason so was wondering was there some legal impediment

The €200 mightn't be an issue, but the registry office was letting them know that if they change the date again, extend it beyond the 6 months that they'll have to go through the application process again.

Is the six monhts from the origional application about to expire?

If they applied five months ago, and there are no dates available in the next month, then that would stop them changing.

Did they ask why no further change is possible?
