Best replacement for Tiviar Alpha box?

It seems to be time I replaced my Tiviar box as a second PSU has just gone faulty!

Is the Zgemma H7S still considered the best replacement or has something better come along since?

Any advice/opinions appreciated.

Yes best value and get an SSD . Then a remote from Amazon for 10 euro and you will be amazed. Use Openvix image with Vix blue skin plus picons and …. Get it from WOS and they will set it up.

Its a well known fact that the remote with the H7s is poor. I got one from amazon for 10 euro and it makes the box that much better. I did it as a trial and was well impressed. I have prime so it was free delivery. It looks just like the H7S remote and works right out of the box. I always use the most powerful battery, its an energizer max plus.

It may work out cheaper from Amazon DE. Also Fedex charge €15 handling fee on top of duties if memory serves

Revenue change the exchange rates at the start of each month. The way Sterling has been going recently, there could be a small advantage in waiting until May. But that is just a guess. And even if Sterling got very weak in mid May, the rate applies for the full month.

WOS deduct the UK 20% VAT to give a base price for export of £90.83. Add on whatever postage and packing charge they are making for Ireland. Convert that new total to Euro using the Revenue exchange rate. Then calculate 23% of that total to get the VAT charge to be collected on delivery in Ireland. On top of that the delivery company will charge their own fee, €15 for Fedex. That will be for the basic H7S without any extras such as a hard drive.

Customs Duty only applies to items valued at over €150, and is on the intrinsic value. Duty is not charged on postage and packing. If there was Duty payable, it would also have 23% VAT added on. A lot of items are rated at 0 % for Duty in the EU, and as far as I can see that is the rate for satellite receivers. So there should be no issue with Duty even if adds ons brought the H7 over €150.

VU+ from WOS costs 373 with UK VAT removed.

Fedex invoiced 157 on top of that with taxes and handling fees ….. there is a considerable amount to pay if buying from WOS in the UK and keep in mind that returns are going to cost as well.

Much cheaper to buy the box from Amazon.de , no customs issues etc. and comes in about 100 euro cheaper.

Any box you can get from WOS you can get from Amazon.de

Got the H7S back in Feb from WOS at the £99 price, less uk vat plus 500 SSD plus shipping for 160 euro. Charged 43 euro irish vat by FedEx. 203 euro total including SSD.

Total cost was €163.09. That is without the SSD. The VAT/Duty was €33.47.

I use a few makes but opt for best value and only get 500gb, crucial, kingston, mostly, and there was a link to a good place on here but cant find it. amazon is good value
