Can access my HikVision CCTV from my mobile network on APP using external IP, but not when on Wifi

As per title, had to reset my HikVision CCTV system, and using HIKConnect APP I can as usual view live cameras from my phone while outside the network, but for some reason can't access on the app on my phone if on my home wifi. Have to turn off wifi and stay on phone network.

Must be something simple preventing me accessing the external IP from within the network? This used to work until I reset everything and setup again.

if your own network you would use you internal ip address ? port number 8000 or whatever from your modem not the external internet ip

so add another camera with your internal ip to try that

Some ISP supplied routers will block accessing your external IP from the internal network which might be what the app tries to do. Some allow you to change this setting, not sure which ones.

If you can't point the app at the internal IP look for router settings for loopback network address translation or hairpin NAT, or stuff to do with accessing WAN IPs from the LAN. I'm with Pure Telecom and the supplied router couldn't be changed, got a TP-Link Archer (for other reasons) which fixed it.

If not using the cloud then setup a local address and use this.
