Heard Madrid are offering bellingham as part exchange to get the deal done before Jarvis wins the euros for England this year and his price skyrockets.

These posts are probably weirder than the original ones that prompted them at this point.

You can trace Jarvis' Ballon D'or win right back to Riquelme getting substituted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,067 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

Definitely not, especially as the poster continually doubles and triples down on his out there opinions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,157 ✭✭✭✭CSF

What do you think is driving that?

I actually don’t think it’s that out there an opinion. I think it’s between Jarvis and 2 or 3 others (Forrester and Burns obviously spring to mind) for best player in the league at the moment.

Naturally, many people are gonna think their teams best player should be at the forefront of that conversation, and that’s just the way of it really.

The hyperbolic posts are obviously weird, and the same joke being made for the 10th time is obviously weird too.

It's the hyperbole that people have an issue with. In fairness there have probably been one or two too many retaliatory posts on him today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,157 ✭✭✭✭CSF

I’m fairly sure the quantity of hyperbole is going to be proportionate to the quantity of reactions. Tends to be the way.

I'd class Golden Miller's posts as enthusiastic, and there's nothing wrong with a bit of enthusiasm. Long may he continue. IMO Shels are definitely going places, and have the best manager and coach in the league.

Pats on a run of 3 defeats and have to open the shed end to home fans due to demand.

The upsurge in the popularity of the league is a joy to watch.

    That's "Damien Duff's Shelbourne" if you don't mind ;)

In all seriousness, the fact that Shels are being teased/spoken about is because they are motoring so well. If I was a supporter, I'd be loving it.

Their worry must be that Duff will soon get managerial offers in the UK.

Dunno, Duff is a weird egg and not afraid to go against the grain...seems very loyal to Irish football, so I think he'll hang around for a good while longer. But I suppose it's inevitable that he'll eventually move onto bigger things.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,157 ✭✭✭✭CSF

By all accounts, he isn’t looking to leave Ireland and the family, and obviously doesn’t need the money. But like anything, an opinion is only someone’s opinion until it isn’t.

To be fair he's clearly doing a good job there & has put a real identity on shels who were (without trying to sound offensive) a nothing club for years. I do think the squad looks light for a sustained season long challenge, but if they get the breaks re: injuries and suspensions & build some momentum anything can happen. Dark horses though, still think Rovers & Derry look a good bit stronger.

Living in Ireland is a big thing for him.

He also strikes me as liking being the big fish in the small pond

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,157 ✭✭✭✭CSF

Yeah, I don’t think we’ll win the league. I’ll settle for a 3rd place European finish that doesn’t rely on me waiting for the cup final result to be able to celebrate it.

I think if Duff keeps going the way he is, and certainly if he manages to win a league for Shels, he will be in the frame for the Irish job in the not too distant future. And I’d have no problem with that. If a manager from the league is ever going to be considered again it will almost certainly have to be someone like him, with a profile outside the league in addition to doing well here.

Clear view from H Block, looked a definite handball and as his celebration he didn't run to the Derry fans, he ran over to the West Stand with his forearm outstretched. Either way, Rovers didn't defend it well letting the ball get that far.

Dundalk fans being asked to pay €24 for an adult ticket and €19 for a teenager tonight is a pisstake. The high attendances have gone to the heads of too many teams and they're pricing people out.

Yeah it's too much for the privilege of standing behind the goal with no cover. Drop a fiver off both at least.

We've been better and deserved our lead. Still our attack isn't clicking fully. Ref having a weird match some clearly wrong decisions affecting both sides but enforcing where throws are taking from......

surprised to see Dundalk havent even Shelvey on the bench tonight, I wouldnt even blame him for 3 of the 4 goals he let in on monday night and the storm like conditions didnt help for the one he dropped.

I dont like how people these days are so quick to wright a player off or squad, the lads on the Dundalk fc forum panicking about the season and the new players, only 3 games in, its crazy, Shelvey looks a good keeper to me, he will prove them wrong.

Soft penalty in Dalymount there but Boh's have been absolute dogshite again and can't complain too much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,078 ✭✭✭PGE1970

Unremarkable game in Galway and a draw a fair result. I thought that we (Drogheda) had a good shout for a pen for handball in the second half but they aren't given easily away from home.

Tough conditions for both teams do happy with a point.

Telling you lads, Shels will win the league. Shels fans don't want to get ahead of themselves, but we're the best drilled and well organised team, built on a rock solid defence. We now also have the squad dept and an array of attacking options. We're the complete package and still haven't got out of second gear.

And that's before we mention Will Jarvis. I'm not getting ahead of myself, as I said it with full confidence before a ball was even kicked. We're the champions in waiting!

The only thing I see stopping you is the inevitable run to the Europa Conference league knockout stages. Might find it hard to juggle all those extra games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,785 ✭✭✭The Golden Miller

Hopefully we'll have built up a cushion, can see Derry hanging with us though. We've built up a big squad for that reason. Our subs are very strong tbh

    Enjoyable evening in Dalymount.

Blues very poor tonight against a well organised Derry side .. Have to stop giving away soft goals.. You won't get away with it in this Division. Hopefully we can dust ourselves down and go again against Dundalk next week. No easy games , everyone is taking points offeach other ..you have to perform or you will be found out

Is the player swap between Jarvis and Kroos/Bellingham/Modric still on?
