Energia gave me ‘time of use’ pricing on Friday (all inc VAT) 31.97 8am to 5pm(Day), 33.51 5pm to 7pm(Peak), 17.12 from 11pm to 8am(Night). They reckon it will save me €250 per year provided my usage is similar to national average which they tell me is Day 52%, Peak 9%, Night 39%

Our renewal with Flogas is coming up in two months. I was considering a smart plan as we've a heat pump (heard a smart plan is great for this) but I work from home and there would be a lot of daytime energy usage.

With this in mind, would I be best off avoiding a smart plan?

It was on the news this morning they've announced a further cut of 7.5% in April. They already have a cut coming on Friday. No I don't have a link as it was only announced this morning.

It was definitely on VM TV this morning unless they're rehashing the March 1st price drop but they said it was in mid April. I'll have a listen on the lunchtime news at 1.

Flogas issued the bill 10 weeks after switch. I complained and they called me just now oferring me 30 euros as compensation...

I told them i dont accept and want it in writing so that i complain to cru

Anyone with an advice on this?

The bill was 180, they applied the gov credit of 150 and i paid 30 as final bill.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,723 ✭✭✭✭zell12

    As said earlier

4.7.7 Where a customer has switched supplier or closed their account the final closing bill will be issued not later than six weeks from the effective date of the change of supplier or account close taking place. Where a replacement meter reading is issued to the supplier after the final bill has been issued, this will be dealt with as an exception to this requirement.

Follow Flogas customer charter regarding response timelines and complaints process. You cannot go to CRU until you have exhausted Flogas's process

Thanks for this. Yes I have raised the complaint with flogas and all they say they want to pay is 30 for the charter. I said i cannot accept it and they have now escapate it.

Once i hear back inwill go the cru way.

My question is, am i right tonassume that they must cancel all final bill? Or is this not the case?

No requirement to cancel the bill, you still owe it regardless. However, they probably will waive it during the appeal/complaints process. It can take months.

I have a smart meter and I'm on a smart meter plan for both gas and electricity. Does anyone know why Energia are asking me to submit a meter reading? I though they get my readings directly from my smart meter??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,585 ✭✭✭ongarite

Smart meter is for the electricity only.

Gas meter has to read manually & submitted to Energia

I must have🫣 old age setting in I suppose...

Would be interested to hear if there are any cuts to their Lifestyle ‘EV Drive Time’, but it is unclear on the announcement page.

Looks like they are cutting the peak rate, but the ev rate remains at 5cents.

Are you sure about that ,I never submit a reading and every bill is marked Actual ,a guy came around recently and changed the battery on the meter ,it also has an antenna

Currently with Flo Gas on the standard rate and went into Bonkers and No for "only available for sign up" and "cash back included" best rate is

When searching is ticking No the best option. Seems Flogas best option or is there anyting I am missing or anyone not included on Bonkers I may have missed

    Gas charges

    Excluding VAT

    • 8.244 cent per kWh
    • €139.09 annual standing charge

    Including VAT

    • 8.986 cent per kWh
    • €151.61 annual standing charge

BGE used to have meter readers, then moved it to a contractor. Then contractor laid off staff. You might get the gas reading done by a contractor 2-3 times a year.Mine done once this year by meter reader, next one probably end of the year.I was told when the meter was installed(5 yrs or so ago)that it would be read by bluetooth by a passsing van-not true says my supplier last year?? Since then I submit a reading.

I am with Flogas too, contract up in May, did exactly the same and got the same result.

Also not sure if I did the right thing.

    Could anyone clarify?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,092 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

Yeah the bluetooth thing didn't pan out, or maybe it only works for externally situated ones?

I had a new gas meter installed last year under the stairs. I still get the call outs 2-3 times a year to read it.

I woukdnt touch Yuno under any circumstances- jan they took €80 when I signed - followed by a bill of €160 in jan followed by a bill of €235 today .

my electricity bill for two months is now €475 -

problem - the highest it ever was - around €250 .

they won’t send me the actual bill

    they just keep predicting usage

never ever sign up if you don’t have a smart meter - there are so many teething issues .

stay far far away is my advice

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,968 ✭✭✭wingnut

I was looking at Yuno as their rates are so much cheaper but there seems to be a lot of horror stories. Looking at trustpilot any of the positive reviews look suspicious - they are either a 1 review person or a person with a few glowing reviews or various services like insurance etc. The negative reviews are similar to yours saying they overbilled, can't be spoken with etc. I am about to lock in for a year now and yuno and electric ireland have the best rates but Yuno will work about €270 a year but is it worth the risk? Any boardsies had positive experience.

I wouldn't touch them, it's prepay power with a fancy name. Flogas fixed rate is 1cent dearer with a lower standing charge 27.01c €257 standing charge fixed for 12 months.
