A few months ago myself and my wife both returned items and we each had the refunds applied within an hour of posting.

If it goes to Portloaise you'll usually get it not long after posting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 120 ✭✭Rightplace2016

Think refund timing is based on some algorithm.. on same day I returned two items in two packages to Amazon with free an post returns labels to portlaoise and items cost 25 euro.. one was refunded as soon as an post scanned it .. second one still not refunded weeks later . Both sold and supplied by Amazon and both free an post label refunds

I posted this in the no chat. It's £290. But the import fees bring it up much higher than other items I buy on Amazon UK. Why the discrepancy with this item? Do we have different rates for telescopes?

Some items over €150 attract duty, some don't.

Majority of items I have if refund to Amazon I get as soon as an post have them, very rarely do I need to get into CS

I have found a few times with warehouse items I had to return issues

I had an expensive drill which wasn’t great and returned, waited weeks and nothing, got into them and they refunded, the next day it landed back to me because as post didnt see the battery inside sticker on the bottom. Just kept it 😂

If you try and buy it from a UK address its not available. Therefore I suspect the stock isn't in the UK perhaps its coming from the US?

Wake me up when it's all over.

If I add that to basket and then go to checkout it is showing up at £310 for me. Given the VAT difference that looks about right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 554 ✭✭✭Enrico Palazzo

No, the difference is bigger than the VAT alone. The net price is £241.66.

Is it necessary to apply the hazard labels when returning Bluetooth earphones

Concerned they may not take it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,907 ✭✭✭alxmorgan

If you want it sent do not put them on and lie about whats in it 🙂

Bizarrely they will happily deliver items with batteries but never allow them to be sent....that's my experience anyway

If they don't take it, get onto chat and explain. I had to do that once, they told me just to dispose of the faulty item myself.

How is postage refund sorted out ? Thanks

    Good lord.

I have been on to Amazon for nearly 2 hours here.

I bought a phone in November. The front camera stopped working, so I requested a replacement.

The replacement arrived, I sent the other one back.

Last week Amazon tried to take out the money for the phone I returned. Thankfully there was no money on that card (which is for my online shopping) I spent an hour sorting it out with a customer care rep. They admitted the error and put £15 on my gift card. I asked for reassurance that it wouldn't happen again and he said, "I have disarmed the setting, No need to worry, IT will not get repeat".

Then tonight at 6pm, I got an email from Amazon saying they had taken the money out for the phone. The big problem was the money was there this time as I was meant to be booking an airbnb tonight. So now I have been on to 5 customer service reps, and one on the phone.

The one on the phone told me the phone HAD BEEN RECEIVED, but hadn't been processed yet. How is that my fault exactly?

So now, I'm out €155, can't book the airbnb and won't get the money back for up to 10 working days.

To add insult to injury, the customer service rep offered me a £5 gift card for the inconvenience caused.

I don't know what to do. I guess I'll remove all the cards from my amazon account and just use purchase once cards from Revolut as I cannot trust them with my cards anymore.

Onto cs myself tonight for hour to get 20 euro refund for return I made a month ago and they said oh yes due to inconvenience we are issuing you refund now and I had to reply saying no you are issuing me refund as you got item a month ago. Reply was anything else we can do for you . Seriously reducing my purchases to items I can find no where else as hassle returns isn't worth savings

I'll be dramatically scaling back now on anything that may be returned

I'd usually say the sky's the limit, but I might be wrong in this case.

Its extremly rare that i would return items - but I do like the option should I ever need to - I hope online places wont scale back on returns because some over use it - Im looking at videos on youtube of pallet loads of amazon stock being sold for a 20th of the cost - full of non-broken things - like who would legit return aa batteries - or an empty cardboard box?

    lots there - eg. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-GJLoD2ucY

Every time I've had to return things to Amazon it's always to the the Dunfermline address. Always send by registered post and always have to wait until it's received before I get the refund. I also have to spend a half hour each time talking to CS to get my postage refunded.

I've called back my shopping from Amazon by a significant amount now. I'd say what I'd normally order in one month before, would be the same amount now over 5-6 months. Just not worth the hassle anymore

Definitely a lot more trouble now

They even used to credit my GC balance the same day the prepaid label was scanned at PO

I CBA with anything I'm not sure of

I just instigated a return for an air fryer and they sent me a prepaid label and said it will be refunded once it’s been scanned with anpost

I always fire receipt pic off to this address with order number and just say I was asked to send this here for refund

    image-attachments@amazon.co.uk

Always get refund same day or day after

Or you could recognise it for the freak occurance it was and continue about your regular Amazon business.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,781 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

Did you see the follow up responses? It wasn't a once off, and customer service has fallen off a cliff since COVID.

Hey, quick question. I use prime pretty regularly and use video too, so I'm happy paying for prime. Just wondering - I currently pay monthly. I know an annual fee is cheaper, but are there ever offers on the annual fee? Or is it always the same price except when they up it from time to time?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 213 ✭✭shalom

Anyone in your family with a student card, you could get student annual fee that way ?
