Getting Nikki Haley confused with Nancy Pelosi for a whole bit isn't a gaffe. That's a case to get him on Mementine.

You do realise it's people taking the piss out of trump supporters for trying to compare the health and ability of trump to biden? In any normal world, it's no contest in Biden's favour, in maga/racist/rapist/misogynist world, trump being a bit of a wreck means nothing to them if it gets their agenda in place (the fact that trump grifts them so badly is still very funny, a second term would get nothing conservative done).

The piss taking would stop if the maga loons stopped trying to make it a thing and cry and go to safe spaces about it, politics shouldn't be about who wears nappies or doing impressions of disabled people, but here maga is.

Oh definitely, and as for your last sentence it could be applied to a lot of his supporters

Not just thinking, saying loud and clear. Helps that it is completely factual too.

"Trump was still put out of the white house when the time came"

    This time.

You think his worship of dictators is merely quaint then?

You think that being impeached twice, causing an insurrection, happily sitting by while people were chanting that his VP should hang, extorting local Governors to ride roughshod over their legitimate results, or removing metal detectors to allow his supporters armed access to the Capitol building, means that next time around, to quote Susan Collins, he will have learned his lesson?

Underestimate this tangerine tyrant at your peril.

    Objectively, trump is a rapist.

    Subjectively, he isn't.

Human beings are not objective creatures, especially when it comes to politics. And it's the difference between being honest about ones bias and affecting neutrality, fooling nobody.

You think that Trump is going to change the constitution?

We aren't talking about decorum here, or interpretation, or muddying the waters. To serve a third term Trump literally needs to change the text of 22nd amendment of the constitution and you think he is going to be able to do that?

There is concern over the direction US politics is going, and then there is chicken little doom mongering.

    Simple question.

Did you forsee in 2016 a fraction of what he did during his term?

    Honestly?

Yes, everybody did. He made a bollocks of the job, everybody saw that coming.

And if he gets in he would make another bollocks of it.

But don't dodge the question, how is a senile old rapist going to change the 22nd amendment of the US constitution?

"Yes, everybody did. He made a bollocks of the job, everybody saw that coming.

    Yes - Everyone saw that.

I asked did you forsee what I had set out.

Who is dodging the question exactly?

He is going to be a dictator from day one, thats his plan you see.

He will tear up the constitution and make himself emperor of the USA.

    There will be martial law.

All opposition politicians will be exterminated.

Canada and Mexico will be invaded.

    WW3 will be started.

Well at least thats what some people believe.

Or maybe he might just do what he did the last time.

Too many people have been watching the trailer for that new film Civil War.

The question is the bit with the question mark.

You think that Trump is going to change the constitution?

    and

how is a senile old rapist going to change the 22nd amendment of the US constitution?

I won't underestimate him when you explain how he gets a third term, because he has to change the constitution to do it.

"Or maybe he might just do what he did the last time."

Well, we all know you'd be perfectly happy if he did...

Im on record multiple times saying I'd prefer he not run again and Ive explained why.

I'd say stacking the courts with Conservatives leading to Roe v Wade being dismantled has been pretty traumatising and cataclysmic for the thousands of women having to live with the decision.

The recognition of Jerusalem has had a deleterious effect on the stability in that region, leading to this point.

Trump was the instigator in the calamitous Afghanistan pullout.

Then there's the mishandling, misinformation during COVID that probably cost lives. not least the shutting of the pandemic department in 2018. Whoops.

And let's not forget the Project 2025 is a clear, vocal pathway to functional authoritarianism.

It's instructive that rather that discuss the meat of his actions, you jump to strawmen histrionics about ww3. Then you bleat about objectivism.

You dodge my question and insist on me answering yours lol

Maybe he'll do what Putin did, and insert a proxy?

I'm not an American constitutional lawyer, but there have been amendments made to it before.

    Now - your turn.

I set out all of the things he did and asked if you foresaw half of that.

Or maybe he might just do what he did the last time.

For once I tend to agree with you. He is too addled and lazy to do more than sit out his term, taking the privilages and ignoring the responsibilities. He will would make lots of speeches, or at least he talk about himself a lot and run the country into the ground so he could say that Biden left him a rubbish economy.

But actually doing anything positive, no, why would he? He would be unlikely to get the rules changed to get another term so all he could do is sit in splendour and refuse to leave (there is precedent for that) when his time is up.

I didn't dodge anything, I answered your question, yes we all foresaw Trump being a scumbag and doing a lot of selfish, terrible things. Nobody gets any points for seeing the obvious.

You don't have to be a constitutional lawyer, but if you can't see any way for him to change the constitution then crying about him doing something that requires a constitutional change is nothing but doom mongering.

I asked did you forsee half of this?

You said his presidency was a **** show and of course it was.

I'm taking about the stuff above. Did you honestly looked at the footage of Jan 6 and thought... Meh?

Take a poll on people here who thinks if Trump is elected again, it'll be the end of American democracy. Sounds like you'd be surprised with the results.

“Or maybe he might just do what he did the last time.“

Sell US secrets to foreign actors, accept millions and billions in unconstitutional emoluments, use federal violence against protestors and international journalists, abandon overseas allies, make more deals with terrorist organizations, hand Ukraine to Russia on a platter, erode NATO, ignore another pandemic until it’s too late, rape women, steal more U.S. top secret and codeword Intel, violently separate kids from their families and destroy the paper trail, hysterectomies at the border, sell industrial towns up river, destroy the institution of the judiciary, pardon himself and all of his coconspirators, what do you think he’s gonna do with 4 more years? Certainly not get annual GDP above 3%

Imagine replacing Alito and Thomas with more unqualified jurists like Barrett. That's one thing TFG can do if reelected.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,890 ✭✭✭✭briany

Trump's nature is well-understood. To even allow him to fulfill the worst fears of what he might do is pure folly. This is the same reason that most people do not put a scorpion under their shirt, even when being stung is not guaranteed.

Or, as Trump is fond of saying himself,

“Take me in oh tender woman,

“Take me in, for heaven's sake,

“Take me in oh tender woman,” sighed the snake.

Alot of Bidens policies are very similar to Trumps in certain areas yet we had people on here trying to argue Trump didnt have one good policy.

    That doesnt hold water.

We have others repeatedly saying Trump is going to be a dictator, despite the fact him saying it was a joke.Dictator for 1 day. There are also many checks and balances as the US is a Federal Republic so he would be kept in check.

Trump initiated the Afghanistan pullout but it was conditional on the Taliban upholding their side of the agreement, something they violated months in advance of the withdrawal yet Biden still adhered to it.

    That was idiotic.

Regarding Israel, Biden is a weakling, he cant reign in Netanyahu, whats going on there is horrific.

Biden is aiding and enabling mass genocide, its sickening.

Trump didnt start any wars on his term but as soon as warmonger Biden got in things changed dramatically.

Biden is far more likely to cause a WW3 than Trump.

Yes, I foresaw Trump getting impeached, attempting to retain power and telling his supporters to be scumbags, how many bloody ways do you want me to repeat the same thing?
