The buses rarely keep to schedule since switching to EV. That would be my biggest gripe with them

Relative ofine was on one just before Xmas and said it was freezing. She asked the driver why there was no heat and he said he can't put it on or the battery won't last. 🙄🙄

I find buses never keep to a schedule regardless of powertrain

Any know who can put a chain link/Chicken wire fence for decent price in Athlone, it is not much around 15-20 foot length. Also, where can I buy it?

This wasn't ever a mystery. Putting the heat on takes extra energy. Same applies to petrol/diesel but they have longer range.

Fitzy ensuring the rural gombeen vote in the next election rather than accepting that this can be overcome. Easily solvable by either getting bigger batteries or more buses to provide redundancy when charging required.

A different subject!!! I am trying to book a room in the Raddison Hotel Athlone for 12th July. Its all booked out. If i can remember properly it has 124 bedrooms.I honestly didnt think Id have any problem & its not cheap 175e per room. Is there any B&B or Air B&B within walking distance of the hotel.

Did you enquire with The Sheraton? Or The Prince of Wales? Shamrock Lodge and Creggan Court would need a cab out probably.

    This too shall pass.

Where does a decent kebab in Athlone?

I'm sorry the Athlone thread let you down in your time of need at 3am last night looking for the best kebab in town.

I've had a few kebabs but have always been in a compromised condition so can't recommend any.

At 3am in the morning King Kebab is a massive shout. Might not say the same the following morning/mid afternoon though!

Although at 3am every kebab is delicious

The nights of eating eggs chips and rashers with proper plates and cutlery at 03:00 is long gone, think I will always miss the Genoa and the wee diner beside brendans/charlies

Anyone know where to get hit and miss fence panels for good value locally? Looking for 1.8 x 1.5m. See them below in Ganlys but seem very expensive.

Kebabs are tan food. Goto England for kebabs.

Bnq I think do better price panels

For kebabs, apache do a great one.

However If you fancy sitting down to a real treat, go into Dead Centre on a Thursday night, kebab and a beer for 18 quid.

Top quality and the best selection of decent beers in town.

Good god every street work on Athlone takes an age. A 50m stretch in sean costello street still looks ages from finished.

What is going on honestly? Has technology gone backwards, working talent gone to muck or what?

In fairness they are laying stonework paving, it's not a tarmac job! But you're right, it's taking a very long time for a very small street.

Im hoping they change the layout or do something for the new junction at pump lane, last night i drove past Dunnes, from Tesco, then wanted to go left through town. the way it is now though, a stupid speed bump right before the pedestrian crossing and a car on the other side of the road, but the way the road is, im going up hill, so the light from oncoming cars are directly in my eyes from anyone waiting to turn right, then pedestrians come out of nowhere to cross at the pedestrian crossing cause they're coming from round the corner so very difficult to see!

What kind of engineer saw this and thought "yes, thats ideal"??

Ya, that new layout is probably an accident waiting to happen.

Too much roadworking going lads, Abbey Rd near the Radisson, Paynes Lane, Sean Costello St, Arcadia at the care centre.

Abbey Road near the Polish shop had a stop and go there too recently and now they've gone and left the road in shite. This is just my route into and out of town so no doubt there's a lot more out there.

Can anyone recommend a good barbers that will do a 3 years haircut? Jessie's in Irish town was the best spot, but she's closed for couple of months, her setup is very kid friendly
