We're certainly getting some wind energy from it!

Some heavy southerly gusts hitting here in Ballincollig, west of Cork city now. Driving rain as well, though not as bad as I was expecting, at least on the rain side. Still five hours until the Orange warning comes into effect, this will be interesting.

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Estimated times are affected by weather conditions afaik

Orange warning for most seems accurate for now, though it should have come into effect at 1pm not later in afternoon.

As for tornados, I'm 50 and I think 2 or 3 have been reported in Ireland in my experience. So I acknowledge a risk but think its extremely unlikely

Drove NE Galway to Meath. Left much earlier than planned. Journey to Moate poor visibility with rain and spray. Minor roads raining and floods so took it handy. The amount of cars with no rear lights. Had the kids counting them. Those DLRs those modern cars.

Then other cars joining motorway no rear or front lights.

Second half of journey much more pleasant. Probably helped not as much rain.

The rain was constant in NE Galway all morning while we there. I togged out initially but passed on my run.

Don't envy anyone driving later if storm hasn't made landfall yet.

Yeah I think even Joanne in her forecast was saying worst of the winds to hit down South mid afternoon to early evening. 5pm does seem a bit late alright. Nothing too severe in North Cork yet anyway.

Mod Note: Just reposting this now from earlier.

This thread is likely to get very busy today and tonight. This thread is solely for the discussion about Storm Isha - what is likely to happen and what is happening.

This thread is not for debate/discussion about the merits/demerits for the current Met E warning system and complaints about warnings 'in my back yard'. I have just set up a new thread for that debate/discussion here: https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058332472/great-big-weather-warning-general-debate-discussion-thread/p1?new=1

As this thread is likely to be very busy, any posts in this thread debating/discussing Met E warning system may be deleted by Mods without warning or explanation.

Also note that Mods cannot move posts between threads in the same forum (like we used to be able to do).

Our watch 2102 upgraded to warning as conditions can be seen on satellite and are confirmed by blend of guidance and Valentia sounding at 12z.

All counties in Connacht, Clare, Longford, and parts of Offaly, Westmeath, will be subject to southwest winds veering westerly in the range of 90 to 130 km/hr causing considerable damage to trees, infrastructure, roof tiles and loose unsecured objects. Secure property in next hour where feasible. Conditions will be severe for several hours, and northern counties in warning area will probably also see a continuation into the conditions in watch 2103.

Adding Kerry, Cork, Limerick and Waterford to 2102, same timing is expected.

Would add Donegal to this warning starting around 5 pm, but watch 2103 is likely to upgrade to warning also before that.

Warning is now given identifier 2102-warn. This will likely be extended east and south.

Watch 2102 now expires in warned areas and was not applied to Limerick, Kerry, Cork or Waterford, but it now applies as a watch (2102B) for 6 pm to 10 pm further east, with wind criteria reduced to 80-120 km/hr.

Active cold front moving towards the coast and would think trough line behind it.

Very heavy rain here early morning, about 25mm left the bottom of the garden flooded in places. Bigger gusts making their way inland here now.

its brightened up considerably in my area of Kerry (Firies, Farranfore), plus there's very little rain which is great. Every few minutes it gets calm and I think that's it over, then suddenly it picks up again. I'm dying to get out for a spin , its a rare day I stay indoors, but I don't think its worth it today.
