I just checked the Met Eireann App. The regional forecast for Dublin mentions near gale force winds. Then why is the county under an Orange Warning? Makes no sense.

I think schools will be open unless damage caused by storm. Might be a delayed opening to assess the school Monday morning. I am sure the whats app groups and Aladdin will have updates.

Doesn't look good. We're not far away from Malin Head. Already sounds crazy out there. Going down to my parents at 9am to pack the sheds with anything not tied down and close them all up.

Atlantic coastal spots will feel the full brunt of Storm Isha. The latest ICON output does not bring the strongest winds as far inland and would be in line with the existing Orange Alert issued by Met Éireann. The Red Maritime Alert for the NW may be extended south to Mizen Head.

Absolutely rotten day in Waterford, 40mm of rain and gusting up to 90 km/h all day. I've had better days under yellow and orange warnings. So much for the calm before the storm 🤨

Storm will be gone by Monday morning, shouldn't be an issue.

Very heavy rain now in Waterford.

Fair enough but the way you put your comment that a club all ireland is not important is....wrong.

Thanks to all the regular posters here who keep us so well informed about impending weather hard to believe we were told about this storm last week, well done

The tone of the "post RTE 9pm news" weather report was interesting. Just focused on the storm. Alluded to an upgrade. Didn't discuss "post storm" weather. Which is vert unusual. Like most of ye, I watch it every night, and it follows a normal script, except tonight.

Emphasised the risks to public and property.

I reckon they think it's bigger than an Orange, but the "boy who cried wolf" craic has the guidance still at Orange.

To be fair, it's 20 hrs out, but, yep. Definite "vibes".

Could bring the club All Irelands forward starting at 11am?

I know not ideal if travelling from the west or Derry. Second game 1pm.. Get home before the worst. Announce it now, or is that logistically possible?

18z gfs is deeper! Red looking likely in the morning for coastal counties

I thought the same, Siobhan seemed different to how she normally is.

The good news is it'll be a very pleasant 13c in many places tomorrow 🤭

Gusts will will penetrate to inland counties on such a fast jet too... getting very interesting / exciting depending on your love of weather extremes 😀

Supposed to be flying to the US tomorrow at 9.30am. Don't fly regularly - I presume the flight will be able to go ahead since its early but would this system cause planes to divert around it or will they fly straight through it?

The 18z GFS output justifies the Met Éireann nationwide Orange Alert and the UKMO Orange Warning for Northern Ireland. The impact of Storm Isha will certainly be felt right across the island. No Red Alert based on this output. Some significant rain totals on top of today's rainfall

A responsible organisation would cancel at this stage. It’s very unfair and wrong to expect people to travel long distance tomorrow.

They'll be at cruising level, 35,000ft or higher, around 30 mins. after take-off, well above the worst of the weather.

Might be a bit bumpy during the climb, but should be fine at final altitude.

I often wonder how much this hourly forecast stands up to scrutiny, but Met Eireann have just updated it for my location (15km from the Wicklow coast) and this is the output. Based on this vs what they had up prior to that, which was between 90-100 from 2pm to midnight, the storm appears to be moving through much quicker than initially forecast and strongest for this part of the country at least between 7 and 9. GFS output is much stronger than this for my area.

She/he has been on Boards in one form or another for a very long time. People may not always be as they portray themselves.

It's lashing now in Clondalkin, Dublin, and has been very windy for a good while. I'm glad I decided to stay put, and not meet friends in town tonight. It wouldn't have been good trying to get a taxi later in this weather.

Very hard to follow this thread. Only about two posts from the past 20 actually talking about the storm!
