Also thinking of putting up my Seiko Blue Tuna (SBBN037). Had one before, imported it from Japan (it's a JDM only watch). Sold it, regretted that, bought again 😂 But needs must...

So far the offers I’ve had are from a scammer and a trade for a car

Further reducing the collection. This one is really special, only 6 of them in the world

Selling this if anyone is interested. Basically a brand new watch with over 4 years off warranty left . Have a few similar looking watches and too good to be left sitting in the watch box . All accessories are unworn too . Happy to let it go for 5 k as I paid 6k in march 2023

Adverts seems dead at the moment for watches . For both selling and buying .Ive tried to do a deal to buy a couple of watches over the last few weeks and just not happening.Mainly due to sellers being far too optimistic on prices , myself included.

It’s not just watches, seems that everyone wants an amazing deal on everything. My AirPods..asking €200 basically brand new and comes with Curry’s 3 year warranty.. getting offers of 170ish..

You're lucky you weren't offered "take 30 for it bro", "no worries al I have bud" or "my adds" 😂

But seriously, this situation is fairly worrying. I've been on adverts since before it started and it was still a boards for sale section 20 years ago. And I have only seen a situation like this once before. And we all know what happened then.

I have to agree, everyone seems to think it's a buyer's market, except of course dunnes and tesco....

The bubble has burst lads.. people have had enough of rising prices across the board and things are coming down, it wasn't sustainable at all and the RRP increases by retailers needed to stop.

We're seeing drops in utility prices, EV vehicles, houses and watches seeing discounts ( not really here though)

It's definitely a buyers market at the moment.

i am still seeing watches moving on adverts people will always want to offer a spare wheel and a bag of tayto to get a deal but serious buyers are around, the ebay used watch market in the uk is picking up massively since they introduced the authenticity centre. as for nearly new AirPods that gives me the shivers lol it is a hard sell in my opinion and would need to be a huge saving but each to their own i guess.

If priced right it will sell. But “priced right” has changed.

If you have a non Rolex with an RRP of 4-10k then offering 500-1000 off ain’t gonna cut it. I can get that from an AD brand new. Discounts will be back in AD, 10-20 percent. If you want to sell second hand you need to be 10-30 percent below that again depending on age, condition etc.

Nearly new is a fancy way of saying second hand.

Now I have no idea what the “new price” for air pods. If DT is looking for 200 then I assume the new price is 300 at least?

If there isn’t a gap what’s the advantage of buying second hand?

Am I wrong or am I seeing 3rd gen airpods for 209 euro from Apple themselves?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,542 ✭✭✭CalamariFritti

They are seriously expensive and wouldn't be for me but when buying from Apple at least you'd think they would be cleaned (disinfected :).

I suppose you'd probably get new rubbers in any case (they got rubbers, right?). Just the thought of it is slightly icky.

yeah i picked up a nearly new set with apple care for 120 euro before xmas on adverts.. trouble is the amount of fakes of them is unreal so you need to be careful to get genuine ones!

I’d say it’s closer to half now for non Rolex - my seamaster I’ve on adverts at €4250 and retail price is €6700 , still no interest . At €3500 I’d say it would move quick enough .

But on the other hand I’ve been looking for a Vacheron 56 and I can’t find one for retail price and that’s not a hugely desirable watch .I always find though that when I want to buy there’s no bargains to have but every time I sell someone gets a bargain .

maybe you could try changing the main photo to being the head of the watch to grab the buyers attention, there's no size or model/reference number and you could even mention the rrp

the watch is really nice and mint condition, the colours pop and that is what will make the average buyer take a second look, they are also likely not going to be watch nerds like the most of us here and just want something nice to show off to others, obviously you can ignore everything ive said
