Rewire question

Hi

we are about too start a full rewire and the electrician told us the data cables & tv/internet cables are extras.

is this normal ?

I was thinking that once he quotes for the job everything is included ??

What does the quote say? If it includes the points then obviously it shouldn't be extra, but if it doesn't include the points then he hasn't quoted for them and I'd think it reasonable that he'd charge extra for them.

surely there'd be a material cost for the cables regardless?

"Rewire" would mean electric wiring and electrical plugs, lights etc. It would not include phone wires, and by extension, satellite, TV or internet cables would be my understanding.

we didn’t get a written quote from him as the rewire is part of an overall building modernisation.

Who is designing and managing this overall modernization? They should provide detailed information from them on what is included.

A builder is managing the overall job

Builder should have a list of what exactly the electrician will do in terms of fire alarms, sockets, switches etc. This list would obviously also show things like data points and TV points.
