Before I agree to what the mod is offering for the sake of everyone’s sanity, I’ll address this post.

I regularly make my point regarding finance because the opposite point is made much more regularly by other poster(s) and they are never ever pulled up on it because it obviously concurs with that particular mods outlook on finance.

My point is if I can’t point out that there is an alternate view on finance than anyone that looks for advice is only getting one side of the story from certain posters who constantly put that POV across.

So- no- it’s not constantly dragging threads off topic- it’s offering an alternate POV that might make sense to people in a certain situation.

For the sake of everyone’s sanity I’ll agree to the removal of the informal warning and the official warning, plus agree to the instruction staying on the thread.

However just for the record, I do think talking about the financing of EVs and the disposable monthly income left after servicing a loan to purchase the EV- is relevant to the overall cost of running a car and should be discussed in the motoring thread.

"Constantly" is your word, not mine.

The problem I see with your POV on the topic is that you don't compare like with like. You talk about new 50k EVs needing finance and put forward an alternative 6 year old Diesel for 10k cash because we all seemingly need long range vehicles. Statistically you're wrong, but let's ignore that for now.

If someone is going to spend 50k on an EV, then they were probably going to spend 50k on a Diesel, with 50 being their budget. There are cheaper long range EVs, but you have previously quoted the 50k+ range. How they pay for it is their business and last I checked, the finance rates don't change for fuel type. Comparing the overall monthly running cost of a 50k EV on finance with a 10k diesel bought with cash is absolutely dragging threads OT when you do it on a regular basis.

Your posting history is in favour of diesel cars. That's fine, but making out that everyone needs to take out big loans for EVs is disingenuous. Much cheaper alternatives were shown to you on he threads an you ignored them completely. I would hope that any on topic discussion on this point going forward compares like with like.

I'm glad to see you'll be accepting the very fair offer made by Liamog though.

Thank you @tom1ie. 2 official warnings will be removed from your account. The informal on-thread warning/instruction remains. The moderator has made it clear to you now that this constant line of posting on multiple threads will not be tolerated. He has also encouraged you to start your own thread on the topic in the Motors Forum if you feel strongly enough about it to discuss it.

You have agreed to the instruction, which means you have agreed to not post about this topic on threads again. As mentioned you are perfectly entitled to start your own thread on the topic however.

I will ask @liamog to remove the warnings.

    Thanks all.
