Curtain Pole Bracket

Hi all

Am I missing something here? Bought a new curtain pole from Jysk and when I feed the screws through the brackets, they are angled towards each other. Normally, the screws go straight through parallel to each other.

Is this a case of a bad factory job and the screw holes were made crooked?

This way has more pull out resistance since you cant pull both screws out together. If they were parallel you could pull the bracket out of the wall.

Its a bit like toe-nailing

Yeah, but you need to drill the hole to line up with the angle on the bracket. So you won't drill in the usual 90 degree angle.

Can I suggest you buy a few screws as well , the supplied screws are useless.

Yeah, just try to drill the hole at a similar angle to the screws, you dont need to be exact, but just make an effort.

If you are going into wood then a pilot hole through the bracket might be the easiest way to do it, brick/block/etc would be a bit awkward to try through the bracket.

There are lots of angled drill guides on Amazon if you can measure the angle. Most seem to do 30 and 45 degrees as well as 90.

Alternatively you could make some sort of temporary drill guide out of a bit of scrap wood.
