    1) treatment has no time limit so play wont restart until the injured player has been safely removed/assessed.

    2) Generally it would affect the phantom injuries where a player just buckles for literally no reason.

    3) It would also work with what you described, in that if the player drawing the foul actually FAILS to get the foul BUT remains commited to his act and stays stricken on the ground anyway.

After the 15 seconds the ref would then stop play so he can get his obviously seriously required treatment ASAP. (As oppose to the onus being on the defending team who cleanly won possession having to stop play and kick the ball out so that the treatment can arrive).

Then it becomes up to his team whether they substitute him (if he is too badly injured to continue) OR let him sit for 2 minutes before he can return to the match (if he is found fit to return).

The premier league are already doing this any player who gets treatment has to wait 30 seconds before coming back on, it is just extending that time

Coooer gone. Forest’s next few games are tough as well.

I like that idea of the stoppages clock, so we can see the accrued time being wasted.

I guess then there is the debate about when it gets applied, such as is it applied for every single stoppage like corners, throw ins, free kicks etc

This was one of proposed ideas of the European Super League, with a stop clock and reduced halves (iirc it was counting back from 30 mins) but got canned because of who brought the idea to the fore. The ball would actually be in play for longer and would reduce time wasting but hey-ho.

I wonder if Nuno’s contract with Forrest will have similar ‘get out’ language as his Spurs one did…

If so, it could be said that Santo’s Clause is Coming to Town.

I’m ashamed to say it, but I did chuckle at that.

if the PL buy arteta's reasoning (a cultural and language difference) i hope they apply that now consistently.

i think the FA/PL just had no appetite after they fucked up so took this easy way out.

Villa should have had a penalty.

How is that not a blatant push in the back

I love to see Villa on top over the Christmas. Nicely worked goal.

    Never mind -goal ruled out.

If that’s a foul on the keeper it’s a foul on the striker as well. Jersey nearly pulled up over his head.

Bit harsh ruling that out for me.

    Goalkeepers being overprotected again.

Can pull the jersey of an attacking player though.

They haven’t even mentioned it on comms! And I don’t really think you can say it was clearly a foul on the keeper in any case. Milked whatever contact there was.

Villa getting a raw deal with VAR tonight.

They have lacked a cutting edge though.

Var should be giving that as a penalty.

Seemed a very soft free to pull back play, with a Sheffield United player clean through.

very surprised that was not a red card.

Smash and grab from Sheff United! 0-1

Sheffield utd deserve that based on last half an hour

Great goal - it's been coming the last wee while, all the danger coming from SheffU. Archer's looked dangerous.

Think not giving a red was the right call too - the bit of a swing of an arm didn't look like it was intentionally going for yer mans head, looked like an incidental contact while just pulling his arm free.

Huge equaliser, great run and header. One of those 'momentum' ones where he knows he's smashing it in while he's still on the run.

If you read this tweet from Romano what would you think Klopp is talking about?

For those who haven't seen the actual interview he was speaking about how unfair this weeks schedule has been to West Ham and how Moyes had no choice but to rotate players midweek so he'd have a somewhat fresh team this weekend and that the media should have considered that before sticking the boot into him for rotating.

Just shows how taking quotes out of context is used to generate a narrative and drive clicks.
