Would a festival setlist bit more hard hitting than a standalone gig ?

Got lucky back in 2018 for London night 1 and got a few gems like 'Last Kiss', 'Wishlist', 'Parting Ways' and 'Do The Evolution'

Don't know would Last Kiss be a gem!! Parting Ways is most definitely

Historically, they would've been shorter setlists but the last tour would've had them (standalone vs festival) near enough to each other timewise.

Berlin and London direct giveaways by the band on the twitter.

The o2 is a great venue if the rumours are true

First and only time to date seeing the full band was there in 2018. The atmosphere was electric and you can literally spend the day in the complex with like minded fans

Don't think much of the O2 or Greenwich for that matter.

Fans bound to gather up there as is zero options elsewhere within walking distance.

Anyone else feel a bit “bleh” with them… I mean they don’t come here on tours, we might get an Eddie date if we’re lucky… I love the band but I get the feeling they don’t love us. It’s not as if a Dublin gig wouldn’t sell out in less than a minute

Edited to say… people might get back and say “well it’ll cost x amount to play here and insurance on top of that”, but feic that, 3Arena has 13k seating capacity, that at €100 a ticket is €1.3 mill for one night…

They don't go to many places on tours, they literally only do short trips everytime. Also, the thread is back active as it appears they're coing back next year. On the upcoming tour they're likey to miss France, Italy, Benelux, all of Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, its just how the do it. Very different if they actually toured extensively and kept skipping, but hasn't been the case.

They had no issue playing Millstreet when I saw them there back in the day. Maybe someone needs to get Noel C Duggan to give them a shout again!!

Yep , they dont care... Why should they ?

They have'nt bothered to be here since 2010 !

But yet Ed Vedd will be 'its great to be back in the emerald isle, so it is ..' blah blah ...

I'll be there anyway , but.......

Ah look I was probably a bit snarky last night. In fairness they owe us nothing and have given me many great memories during the times they have graced our shores.

i think I just get a bit frustrated when I see they’re playing somewhere in Europe and then it’s a scramble of trying to figure out which gig on the continent will be next to go to and how to get there etc. I forget that all my heroes are now old (like myself) and have families and no desire to be away from the comfortable life they’ve earned by touring 11 months a year.

Anyway life’s too short for me to be getting worked up about things I have no control over, so lets spin the black circle and enjoy the great music they have given us

Glen Hansard potentially hinting supporting some dates, not on the Irish date if that is correct.

Him and Eddie are best buds and all that. Wouldn't be the worst support tbh and was very good the few times I've seen him

Looking back on the 2018 Mad Cool setlist. I'd be delighted if something similar was played next year. €242 for 4 days is good value

Wouldnt be good, at all.. Im a fan of Hansard, but not before PJ !!!!

It would be as bad as Paddy Casey in the Point in 2010 !!!! 😣 🤣

I actually don't remember the support in 2010. Fairly sure I was in the pub right up until they came on. That one is a serious blur!

I wonder could Greta Van Fleet support here given there playing on the same day as Pearl Jam at Mad Cool

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,615 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Nah they'd be too big. Saw My Morning Jacket mentioned but dint know if that was in a suggestion more than rumour
